[♔] Sojin begrudgingly tightens the sash on her bathrobe and holds the front door of the dorm open, inviting the freezing winter wind inside for a minute as she rushes to grab the pile of envelopes from the metal box by the entrance. Her hand quickly grabs the stacks of paper and the other grabs the metal knob, pulling it until the small, school bell-like tune indicates the safe closing of the door. A shiver racks throughout her body and she can't help the chattering of teeth that takes over her whilst shaky hands search for a clean surface to place the money statements. She decides to set them down on the kitchen table for everyone to see. Ah, what a great way to wake up. Her body warms up and she still has an hour or so until everyone else wakes up, and the leader never rests, so her leader hands grab for the envelopes and flips through them. The phone bill addressed to a Bang Minah is dangerously heavy and she sighs heavily while possible things to say during a big, upcoming lecture for the younger run around in her head. Her inner hypothetical argument comes to a halt when she comes across a tattered, thin envelope with her name on it. The elegant scribbles of Korean bring a smile to her lips and she grabs the paper, tossing the rest back onto the island of glass before she retreats to her room and plops down on the bed. Her honey colored locks sprawl along the entire expanse of her pillow and she all but rips the sealed adhesive of the envelope open, tossing the wrapping to the carpet and opening up the perfectly tri-folded paper. The contents written in ink on a single piece of processed wood bring butterflies to her stomach and though the words would be seen as explanations of mundane activities and monotonous questions, Sojin finds her cheeks burning and the smile on her lips spreading enough to show off her set of pearly whites. A squeal slips its way past her mouth and she quickly turns to hide her face into the pillow, just in case her roommate might wake up - which she doesn't. It only takes a few seconds for her to hop out of bed and grab her favorite Hello Kitty stationary set, already writing out "Sojin" in the seemingly neat handwriting she learned from her friend Jaekyung. If only she had the talent of calligraphy like her, too.
Dear Kris, I'm doing just fine and it's nice to hear back from you! Your Korean is just fine, so don't worry too much. I find it adorable when you mess up a few consonants, but in your defense, Korean is a difficult language, even to me. If I were to write in English, I'd be making a fool of myself, so thank you for suggesting we talk in my native tongue, rather than what I assume is yours. I hope you find yourself wearing a smile on your face as bright as mine when I receive your later, but I hope for that smile to find you everyday. Don't let the Hello Kitty in the corner fool you, Mister Wu. I'm above the legal age of consent and alcohol, so you don't have to worry about the cops banging at your door someday, though it would be pretty entertaining to find a letter in my mailbox from the local jailhouse. I'll be sure to bail you out if such things were to happen. No worries. I'm afraid today's letter is going to have to be cut short. I have three grumpy girls awaiting their breakfast that I've yet to start. Stay happy and just remember that I care for you, despite not having seen your eyes that I bet are sparkling and....awesome. Have a good day and until snail mail finds a moped or bus to deliver our letters, adieu. Sincerely yours, Sojin ♥
She frowns at the short and abrupt stop of her letter, sighing at the whining Yura beside her. "Alright, alright. Just let me get this in an envelope, sweetie. I'll make you your damn food in a bit," she murmurs, irritation itching at her head. As much as she loves the kids, they grow on her every nerve and interrupt her during crucial events in her life, but as long as they're happy... Sojin grabs a plain, baby blue envelope and stuffs the letter inside. A pang of guilt hits her when she realizes that she's exchanging a two-page letter for just one and promises to herself that next time, it'll be different. Her thin fingers grab her lit up pen and quickly draws on the address she's remembered by heart before grabbing her favorite Disney collection of stamps and opting for a Lilo and Stitch one. The sticker peels easily from the parchment paper it's set on and finds purchase on the right corner of the postage, smiling right back at her. Her slightly glossed lips press against the paper and with that, she hurries outside to stuff the letter into the mailbox. Sealed with a kiss, may that letter find its rightful owner as quickly as it can.
