HEADCANON - SON OF HURIN
I think the term ‘Son of Hurin’ really resonates with Boromir. Aragorn might be the font, the Avatar of these Great Men whom were of Eldar blood and were bright and glorious in their majesty, but Boromir harkens back to a far older time. He has an ancient soul in him, a weary but indomitable determination against foes that he has no hope to defeat. Who does that remind you of?
And he is Noble in an Ancient way too, Noble by deed, not just birth. He might have been born into his affluence but he had to earn the people’s devotion, he had no prophecy to tell him what to do but he lead Minas Tirith well anyway. He has more of the air of a Chieftain than a Steward, thats where his roots lie.
And Hurin was so powerful too, the visual image of him being piled on by all manner of evil creatures because the only way to slow him was through sheer weight alone, thats such a Boromir aesthetic image.
Even their names have the same etmology! The Steadfast, with Hurin gaining ‘Thalion’ (Hardened) later on and oh boy you bet some people call Boromir ‘Boromir Thalion’, I love that a whole metric ton to be honest.
Anyway, Boromir and Hurin would have been friends and my boy has an old soul.
