I don't wanna start flame-wars in X/Twitter (also bc I lost my account there lol), but I just wanna get it out of my chest;
The Comic Bang (C-drama version of Gekkan Shojo Nozaki-kun) missed out a ton by not casting Hu Yi Tian as Nozaki
Like, no offense to the one who got the role, and I know it's just the YiShen shipper in me talking, but if they just can't find an actor as bulky as Nozaki, and still wanted someone that is appealing (even if Nozaki being a huge average-looking man is the appeal of the story), Hu Yi Tian could have been better imo. He got that natural nonchalant energy that I couldn't see in the official actor while he also retains that cutesy, awkward and air-head vibe from time-to-time. Also, he almost have the same height, just ONE INCH shorter, and that even if he doesn't look 30 (like Nozaki is), it'd still be funny if a 28-year-old man played a teen that looked 30 lmao.
(the fact that he wore these too is just sheer perfection y'all) Not to mention, the first C-drama ship of most C-drama fans could have been reunited:
(rip YiShen... for some unknown reason, they never met again publicly since 2019, even as a couple that could have been them)
It's just.. Shen Yue is so perfect as Sakura (she had longer hair in The Comic Bang, and over all has a similar personality to Chiyo), as well as the rest of the cast, but Nozaki's totally different when one of her best on-screen partners could have captured him well!
Anyway, rant over. I'm pretty sure the actor chosen did his best (it's not also out yet, so I could be wrong). If Nozaki's nonchalant but adorkable air-head vibe might be gone for a simple air-head, it's the writers' and directors' fault.
