I did cry today but I think I was just so surprised because I didn’t have time to say goodbye to my mom. I don’t know why but I got pretty upset. Crying this time more because of losing comfort of home, not so much culture shock again. I got to see my one friend I knew coming here but we got lost on the way back to her place to eat and then I just was like I need to be back on campus now and get some chores done while in reality we just went out again. I didn’t have time to buy some that I needed but I think I might just have to go on my own time anyway. At least my internet works now, in the country that has the best wifi in the world like praise the lord.

So basically the first two days even though I was in disbelief about even finally being in Korea, I had a huge surge of anxiety hit me all of the sudden and it sorta manifested as what I would interpret as culture shock, or my version of culture shock. I expected things to be different obviously but it was so loud, crowded, and people were everywhere! As a introvert, I’m normally sensitive to too much stimuli but since this was first time out of the US and in a huge city, it was hard to grasp. It was overwhelming getting off a plane tired and also spending the next day jetlagged, trying to get around in a country you know nothing of the language or how to get from one place to another. 

Today was a better day, we had a guided tour with a tour guide who spoke English well enough to have conversation and answer our questions but we also met people who also were in our situation of being in a new environment and not speaking the language. We got a lot of things answered and I was able to finally relax enough to enjoy myself. It just makes me feel more better about when I start summer classes here.

I’m leaving in a week. T - one week. I’m not gonna lie, I’m excited, but now I’m also terrified. Plus I still have paperwork to do for my home university ㅡ.ㅡ
