Does IJAN (International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network) do anything really besides send around petitions and cosign statements? They had that convergence of Anti-Zionist jews at the World Social Forum and that's pretty cool but I haven't seen follow up with that in a major way. That's definitely a problem of having anti-zionists jews so spaced out in this country and I understand that - is there anything effective and radical such a group can do? My politics align with theirs pretty well but I stay involved with the local YJVP (youth wings are always more militant) because they're the ones doing things and I think their strategy of not defining themselves against Zionism while allowing space for anti-zionists in their rank is pretty mature and useful. Like, I'll always advocate for anti-zionism and against the existence of the state of Israel within any organization I'm a part of (entryist I know) but I feel these debates are not so important yet when we're struggling to change the terms of the debate and do useful acts of solidarity with Palestinians. (Also, I think a lot more jews in the diaspora are moving in an anti-zionist direction anyway?) I can't see twenty years in the future and neither can anyone else. That idea that we're going towards a South African-style endgame is fucking premature and probably ludicrous, almost as dumb as the idea that if certain powerful organizations would just get their shit together that Israel would stop being racist and supremacist. And yeah if there was an anti-Zionist jewish militia in Palestine I'd definitely join a support group for them in a second but in the mean time I'm pretty happy doing what I do with YJVP and other pro-Palestinian groups.
