Another school assignment! Basically what we needed to draw something about what art meant to us :D

Me, to myself in the mirror, gripping the sink angrily: Wally Darling is an adult character, canonically, and as such I object to people infantilising him just because of his autistic traits. Being easily confused by subtle social standards that he's never had explained to him before does not make him a child, mentally or emotionally. Even if he does need someone to support him and care for him in certain ways (e.g. he can't buy his own food/tell his own jokes, if he falls down he will just lie there without someone to pick him up, he needs help working out his emotions, etc. etc.) I would never want to depict him in my art as a child or stupid for it, because that would be perpetuating infantilisation of autistic people in media.
