Whenever I see posts about attacks on Ukraine I remember that she's dead.. that I attended her funeral via webcam.. that the person who wrote such vibrant and furious posts about keeping up the fight, is gone..
and I wonder, for the first time, if this isn't going to end badly after all.. and my heart breaks all over again for my Ukrainian friends, and the state of the world..
Hello Kyiv! It’s nice to be back on the frontline of freedom.
Thinking of @ykp-chk and her request for sunflowers for K.
Here you go, K. Sunflowers.
And just like that…
… a very close friend, someone I chatted with multiple times a day, and finest person I ever knew, was gone.
And just like that, I spent Wednesday through Sunday paralyzed in shock and sadness - thinking about her family, thinking our conversations and thinking about what happened. I kept expecting every phone alert was a message from her, as that had been the case for the last 1.5 years. But not any more.
And just like that… on Sunday, sadness started to turn to anger (and I am struggling to not let it turn to hatred but that might be more useful). Anger brings focus and energy. Truth brings power and focus.
And just like that - the emptiness and silence created by her absence gave way to words and actions.
And just like that, within my meager abilities, i am picking up where she left off. Who she was and what she did needs to be remembered but more importantly what she died for needs to be protected and allowed to succeed.
She did her part. Now it is our turn.
I miss you friend. Rest well, S.
