Just finished Ylesia and if I had a nickel for every time Jacen was just awkwardly there while Jag and Jaina had a really intimate moment I'd have two nickels, which isn't alot but etc etc.

This is the fifth episode in the New Jedi Order documentary series -- this time, with a focus on my favorite novel, Traitor, as well as the fantastic book Destiny's Way. Ylesia is also spotlighted briefly. Matthew Stover and Walter Jon Williams provide fantastic insight into the Force, Jacen & Vergere, Ganner's unforgettable stand, what makes Luke special, the formation of the Jedi High Council, Alpha Red, and so much more. Included as well is discussion of the storycraft involved in shaping these novels, as well as the influence of philosophy, such as Taoism, in the novels themselves. Enjoy!
We should have had “proper” Gladiator Fights in SWTOR
I mean, imagine the possibilities! Geonosis - or Ylesia, for that matter - are right there!
I know we get a small dose of this during the Mandalorian flashpoint during Shadow of Revan - “Blood Hunt”. (i.e. the one where Shae Vizla is the end boss) Others might cite Huttball and so on. But honestly, they could have done so much more!
Think of the intensity of having a rabid, live audience! One that WANTS to see blood! And a fight you are forced to take on? How would a Jedi react to that? Heck, how would a Sith?
I have a future FF planned with Corellan in a situation like this. I hope i get to it someday.
I reread Ylesia again. I mostly remebered it as “Jaina starts coming into her own as a squadron commander and also beats Jag at Sabaac so so badly”
I had forgotten that Jacen decides to stick around Jaina, to support her. That he’s so surprised at how fragile, bitter, and worn out she is. That he just doesn’t peice together “I faked my death from my twin sister right after Anakin died” as maybe part of that problem. That even with the Force, he has no ability to see how his actions affect others.
And Kyp Durron? I hate him. So much. When I read these in high school I didn’t like him, thought he was a total toolbox, needed to leave a deeply grieving and teenaged (!!!) Jaina alone. But now that I’m older and wiser? It’s a white hot rage. Incandescent. I can barely read when he’s on the page.
Once I gather myself enough to reread the NJO in it’s entirety I’m going to fall apart.
Ok so I finished Ylesia so now it’s time for the Force Heretic Trilogy starting with Force Heretic: Remnant.
Heh Jaina deserves that kind of treatment.
I know I keep saying it but this is just a younger Han and Leia lol.
