Do you know prAna mats? I just ordered one under the recommendation of my current yoga teacher, she thinks they're great. I hope I like it!

I have seen them but I don’t own one. I have tried other mats also but I am a Manduka girl through and through.

what's the best way to get a yoga mat? (best brand and stuff)

I did a yoga mat comparison and talked a lot about yoga mats on THIS post on my website.

I own 5 yoga mats, 3 of them are Mandukas. So I guess you can say I prefer a specific brand. (;

[[ before anyone says anything, I know 5 mats is overkill. For the record, 1 is my home mat, 1 is for the studio, 1 is super thin and perfect for traveling, 1 is at work (because I teach yoga to my kiddos), and I have 1 that I started out with… justified? haha. ]]

As far as a mat, I always tell people that everyone always starts with a crappy $8 mat from a random store. BUT once you start investing more time in your practice, you realize that you want a nicer mat that grips and not slip. If you have the money, just get a really nice yoga mat. It’s really worth it. Plus, it’s more green and sustainable since it will last a lot longer than a crappy mat. Okay that’s all. haha.

Hi there! I'm kinda new to yoga (only know the dog pose and cobra). I want to add it as my every other day workout but I have no idea where to being with sequences! I looked some up on YouTube and some are way too slow and others are completely advanced. I'm pretty flexible because I dance (but my hip flexors are always tight), but my arm strength is so weak! Anyways do you know where I can start? I want to do yoga to improve my flexibility and arm strength. Thanks :)

How do you practice forearmstands?

Lots of chaturangas, strengthen your shoulders! Also abs, strengthen your core. Practice dolphin pose for long periods of time too. I like to take a strap onto my upper arms and cinch it so it is shoulder width and kick into forearmstand with a wall behind me. This helps the arms not splay out.
