#Mudrachallenge Day 2. Mudra means seal. Hands are an extension of the heart, and represent our heart actions. Mudras help to link the brain to the body, resulting in release of endorphins, which results in more energy, alteration of mood, and even relief from pain. Ganapati or Ganesha Mudra is named after the Hindu god Ganesha, believed to represent overcoming obstacles. But Yoga is universal, so who or what represents overcoming obstacles for you? For me, Jesus is the one who has overcome, and my faith in him allows me to use the energy of my body, empowered by his Holy Spirit to also overcome. So when employing this mudra, I make my mantra the word of God: "No, in all these things we are more than conquers through him who loved us." Romans 8:37 I place my hands in front of my heart, left palm facing out to the world, right palm facing in to my heart. I hook my fingers and lock them firmly, elbows bent. I inhale, and speak the word of the scripture on the exhale. I do this 3 times. The heart is the determiner of our attitudes, so the combination of breath, energy, and the living word allows me to embed it in my body, and more importantly, in my heart. "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." Psalm 119:11 Yoga is not just about the asana! This challenge focuses on Mudras and daily meditations.
