Magni promised Yohai they'd be her first mate. Yohai promised Magni they'd mutiny. A kiss goodbye and a party by firelight.
-
Yohai didn't knock when they came in. They came in quiet, barely opening the door, letting in only a sliver of noise from outside before they shut it behind them. The lock made no sound under their fingers. And then Yohai stood in front of the door and waited.
Magni had heard that sliver of noise, but it was a few moments more before she looked up from the papers on her desk. It was the silence that made her stop; It was the silence of someone waiting for her attention. Magni raised her eyes to Yohai – and she rose to her feet and braced.

Months later, companies behind his real estate development efforts with his then-son-in-law declared bankruptcy.
dO YOU WANT TO HEAR ABOUT MY NEW BOI
i think ive mentioned him before, and hes fairly new so i dont have too much of a grasp of him yet, but his name is Yohai and hes....... wild
appearance-wise, he looks like the stereotypical punk that would beat you up in an alleyway for the change in your pocket (exactly $2.40). bleached hair, with the roots growing back dark brown, studs and a hoop trailing up the shells of his ears, dark brown eyes, wears all black unconsciously. he plans on a few tattoos, but he doesnt have the cash.
his story is.... well, confusing. he completely ghosted his family the moment he turned 18. packed a backpack and was gone the moment that clock turned midnight on his birthday. he couldn’t be called in as a runaway that way. for all he knows, his family hasnt tried looking for him. he has a younger brother and a baby sister. his parents work for a company that, he believes, sucked their souls out, they don;t feel that severely.
he wandered far from his hometown, finding himself in a new city dubbed Mist Era. the meager resources he packed failed him, leaving him weak and empty-handed while he explored the city. he ended up collapsing at the side of this ugly ass diner like it didn’t look sketch but the color scheme wasn’t the best and there didn’t even seem to be a sign, but its not like you choose where you pass out, right?
Yohai wakes up to someone shaking his shoulder, and when he opens his eyes, there’s a kind-looking middle-aged man in his line of sight. he jerks away, not trusting the guy to be too close to him, but the man doesnt seem to mind. the daylight was almost through fading away into night, and the man invites him into the diner. Yohai doesnt have the strength to deny him as the man helps him to his feet and virtually drags him inside.
its warm, and the interior design is worse than the outside, but in no time the man was shoving him a glass of orange juice and slipping into the kitchen to make him something (its a breakfast sandwich). the man chats with him, introducing himself as Wayford and never asking Yohai anything he wouldn;t be immediately willing to divulge. its almost like the man could read his mind, the way he avoided everything he didn’t want to talk about.
strength replenished, Yohai makes to leave, his backpack on his shoulders the only thing he has to his name, and Wayford invites him to stay with him. not in the propositioning way, either. Yohai knew enough by then that he knew what that sounded like. he refuses anyways, saying he had some place to be, and Wayford doesn’t question it.
kindness still in his mind, Yohai can’t shake the diner or the kind man that ran it, sticking around it until, three days later, he works up the nerve to walk back in. Wayford recognizes him from behind the counter and grins, welcoming him in and introducing Yohai as his nephew to the patrons and other workers as he whips him up another bite to eat. the lie feels right, so Yohai doesn’t question it.
after hours, Yohai says his thanks and asks him if he could make it up to Wayford. and everything changed. Wayford offered him an apartment not too far away, saying he was in the middle of renovating it and wouldn’t mind if someone stayed there to keep it safe. he also offered a job at the diner.
with the most kindness he had ever encountered in his life, Yohai didn’t know how to react. he broke down crying, and Wayford hugged him like the nephew he said he was.
Just a review
After being carried back from Korea, shipped through the extremely hot weather in Thailand for 2 days, and left on a table in the room temperature... This is how Yohai’s Dark Choco Bar comes out.
Just want to say that, if you want to taste it once, I guess it would be fine to get it shipped oversea - no matter which country you live it.
Note: It’s taste pretty good as long as you don’t expect it to be a real chocolate. Not too sweet though.
