I can’t stop laughing imagining what the in universe fs fandom’s reaction must have been to Yuuri hugging Yakov in the Kiss and Cry! The fandom would have already been freaking out because of the mid competition coaching change, and Yuuri stans probably would have been anxious about Yakov’s Angry Russian Coach™️ vibes. At the Olympics Yuuri skates early in the last group, so he's sitting there in one of those top three chairs until the end of the competition. Victor can't be back there because he's just coaching and not competing, but he knows Yuuri is SO nervous so he spends the entire time sending him sweet messages, cute animal pics, and memes on his phone. The cameras just keep catching Yuuri laughing and smiling fondly at his phone until the last skater finishes and Yuuri finally realizes he’s won.

(He shares some of the memes and animal pics with other competitors back there, but the sweet messages are just for him.)
