Hey chat, what the fuck are we not understanding about the tsarista's design? It's ugly. I'm sorry, but it is. You can call it "new" and "special" and whatever the fuck else you want but that doesn't mean it's not boring. When I first saw the trailer I thought I was looking at Zibai but it's not like this is the first time we've gotten repeated color palates anyway.
Before I have people all up in my inbox again, let me tell you what I DO like about her design; i love her hair, the color scheme, the elf ears, the hat crown and the voice actor. She's genuinely one of the most talented people to have ever existed and her voice sends genuine shivers down my spine it's literally liquid gold.
Unfortunately, that's where my list ends. "So what's left for you to hate?" I hear you asking. I hate her outfit. It's so fucking basic and I hate hate HATE how repetitive it is.
Below is the dress from her trailer and the dress she USED to wear (not her playable design)
So she's got detached sleeves and an open chest on both designs because obviously living in a snowy climate doesn't fucking matter, right? A lot of the aspects in the two dresses seem to be similar but her official design COULD surprise me and turn out to be more modest/covered. However, I think the basics are the same. This is why I think the white one will also have the same type of skirt, although I really hope it isn't.
But that still doesn't answer WHY I hate it, does it? Well, allow me to explain through the design of a few genshin characters throughout the years.
(And these are truly only a FEW of the worst offenders) now, do we recognize a pattern? Short skirt to show the thighs, long wisps at the back or making it a train, open chested top and disconnected sleeves. Again, the white dress could be different than these but I'm not entirely hopeful about it. I'm putting these here to show the similarities they share (from what we know so far)
Genshin is doing this while the playerbase was practically begging for another design like arlecchino's. Put some proper clothes on the tsaritsa ffs. Give her more accessories, give her SOMETHING that separates her from the hundred other characters.
Oh and btw if I hear more comments like the "she's the ice god!!!" ones, I will rip your voice box out and feed it to my uncle. Because like tell me you didn't pay attention to the lore without telling me.
During the archon war, the seven archons that survived were: the god of contracts, freedom, wisdom, love and so on. Tsaritsa is apparently the archon of love. She is not the "ice god". She just so happened to have cryo powers. The gods of the elements live in celestia. They are also the ones who hand out the visions.
In a gross oversimplification, let's call the tsaritsa a cryo vision holder. Let's say the same rules apply to her as they do to the archons of other elements.
This would mean the tsaritsa is RESISTANT to the cold, as seen with other cryo users like Kaeya. However, he isn't shown wearing a dress like the one shown above.
Actually, let's take chongyun as an example. He has a cryo vision, and he also can't handle being hot. This much I get. He constantly has to eat popsicles and stay away from spicy food and tense situations because of the imbalance in his yin and Yang energies. So why isn't he showing skin like the tsaritsa is? It's simple. Because chongyun wasn't given a female model, and the tsaritsa was.
My point with this post is that genshin is screwing us over big time. All the female characters and their designs are overtly sexualised. I can count the female characters wearing pants on ONE HAND ffs. I want more diversity. I want more inclusion. I want the culture to be respected rather than appropriated. I want them to dress the tsaritsa like a royal. I want the tsarista's body to show that she was a mother. I want her to be cold and ruthless in the name of love. I want her to be selfish and unyielding in pursuing her goal. I want the archon of love to show the darker parts of affection. I want them to show her grieving the loss of her family even after all this time. I want her to never get over the pain because how could she when she's lost the people she loves.
I don't want the tsarista to be another citlali.
**this is an edited post because I got many important things wrong. I also somehow misunderstood the white dress to be her "formal attire" similar to when the harbingers have their coats on. I was wrong. VERY wrong. Check the reblogs for the og post.
