should people @ you if we find the original download links to CC that were uploaded to GOS/s2a before the shutdown? do they count as unavailable cc? just wondering

Hello yolkema! I was just about to make a post about this, hope you don't mind me using your ask :-)

I'm aware of the GOS/S2A situation and I've been lurking. I wanted to see how it all turned out before making a post about it. @teaaddictyt shared an update where she explained that GOS/S2A aren't dead just yet, people are working on getting it up again. I've also reached out to @liquidsims if this is something they would perhaps be able to "mirror" like the old ts2 sites they have done before (if all else fails).

In the meantime, @simnostalgia scraped GOS back in 2023 and you can find it here. I also found this sfs link on reddit. There's also the mediafryer archive. For links, you can plop them into wayback, a lot of links has been saved but not all ofc. I've already stumbled upon some links not archived. To answer your question, yes, feel free to share the links you find!

I've seen people post some links etc already, and I will probably reblog those, and until GOS/S2A are up and running again, I will reply to asks looking for GOS/S2A content. But pleeeease include links* if you have them! Even if wayback hasn't archived it. And if the creator is still active, reach out to them first.

*It makes it so much easier for me, it's already hard enough as it is with Google's fucking (sorry) AI shit. If anyone has any recommendations for working image-search and search engines, please enlighten me.

Also, packrat turns 10 today! I was planning on celebrating with something, but it feels kind of odd doing that right now. But nevertheless, happy birthday to packrat! 🎉

what skybox do you use in your pv (the test hood)? i saw it in your newest video and thought it was pretty. i don't recognize it from the set most people use

So for the skyline, it's the Green Hills from @greatcheesecakepersona's Seasons Ready Skylines.

For the skybox/clouds, I'm actually not a fan of skyboxes with a sky, so I like just clouds. The specific one I'm using is the Animated Mixed Poofs from iCad / @dramallamadingdang's Great Sky Project set. (they also have an additional Animated Wispy Clouds which is nice to add to your collection too).

However, these moved too fast for my taste, so I edited them to be slower. I was inspired by @plumbobbled's slower edits of the original clouds from the The Great Sky of Totalitarianism Redux before the Ultimate Update, I don't think the fast-moving originals are even available to download anymore as they were replaced with different looking and much slower moving clouds in the Ultimate Update, but I like having Plumbobbled's Slower and Slowest Edits of the Redux one as well as alfsi & alfsi2 clouds from the Ultimate Update available to choose from too. I'm just not a fan of the whole domes in that set personally. I was able to make the edit when @lowedeus kindly told me how when I reblogged plumbobbled's post asking how. So, I changed the stdMatTextureCoordTfAnimTransSpeed in the TXMT to 0.002000 instead of 0.003000. 0.002000 is the same as Plumbobbled's Slower version, and as the alfsi clouds in The Great Sky of Totalitarianism Ultimate (alfsi2 looks different and is slower). I could perhaps share this slower edit of iCad's clouds if anyone would be interested, so let me know! Although iCad does have open permissions, I'd feel kinda bad re-uploading their whole mod with such a small change...perhaps I could do it as a patch I'm not sure.

Another important factor to note that for consistency, I use this Hood Sky for Lots mod by @intincrmars. So, the sky is the same vibrant blue in lot view that it is in neighborhood view, instead of it being much paler in lot view. I think this looks really great with these clouds.

It's important to have SkyFix by @simnopke, or instead I'd recommend Shader Fixes by DreadPirate / @veronavillequiltingbee which includes it, in order for the sky to be correct.

Another cool mod for clouds I use as well as the skybox is Lowedeus’ Maxis BaseGame Clouds made global by @lazyduchess.

im a little curious, what do you usually like to do when you play? do you play wants-based, do you do based on whatever you feel like doing, do you have storylines in mind that you act out with your sims, etc.

Hey! I've explained the process behind my gameplay posts in detail in this answer, but to give a shorter version: my playing style is pretty classically wants-based. Nothing major ever happens without my sims rolling a want for it.

I have a sort of storyline in my head but it's not meant to dictate what happens, just to give a context for it. I'm always driven to continue playing since I want to find out how the story continues too, haha.

what do u think of inzoi now that it's been out for a while

so I acquired the game a couple of weeks ago bc I wanted to test it but then my brother insisted that he could make it run better... and ended up breaking it lmao, so I only got like 1h of playtime out of it and so far I've been too lazy to fix it

from as little as i've seen, let's just say the game would have potential if krafton focused more on the gameplay and less on all that AI bs. I liked some of the details in the game, e.g. Zois actually sitting comfortably to watch TV and shifting their position every so often, or various idle animations. I felt like it had more little details like that than Sims 4, but again, the gameplay was kinda lacking from that little bit that I saw

do you know if lighting mods and reshade affect pink soup at all

I am like 99% sure that lighting mods do make pink soup worse, but don't ask me to provide proof lol. At least the ones that add dawn/dusk lighting, idk about others.

With reshade, I am a bit more cautious. Realistically, it should not have an effect on it because reshade is post-processing, meaning the game is rendered FIRST and then all the reshade stuff is done afterwards. By the time all the reshade effects are being applied, the pink soup is already there because the game already ran through the whole rendering pipeline.

i'm not actually a big fan of soup, the only one i will eat anytime without complaining is borsht which comes out red or pink depending on how much beetroot you use.
