Saint Ash of Xenomorphs, commission piece for @muthur9000 by @yomjileam
I requested that Ash be depicted as a saint and a martyr, here’s a little background on symbolism and saints. Catholic artistic tradition assigns each saint particular symbols that denote the Saint’s martyrdom, miracles, or circumstances of their lives. These symbols serve to identify the saints, and aids to memory of a Saint’s life and actions, and as symbols of spiritual ideals.
Ash the Android is the patron saint of xenomorphs, he carries a palm branch and is surrounded by fire symbolizing the method of his martyrdom at the hands of Warrant Officer Ellen Ripley of USCSS Nostromo, who caused his head to be burnt to ‘death’ with a flame thrower after being decapitated with a fire extinguisher by Chief Engineer Parker.
Ripley: Ash, can you hear me? Ash? Ash: Yes, I can hear you. Ripley: What was your special order? Ash: You read it. I thought it was clear. Ripley: What was it? Ash: Bring back life form. Priority One. All other priorities rescinded. Parker: The damn company. What about our lives, you son of a bitch?!Ash: I repeat, all other priorities are rescinded. Ripley: How do we kill it, Ash? There’s got to be a way of killing it. How – how do we do it? Ash: You can’t. Parker: That’s bullshit. Ash: You still don’t understand what you’re dealing with, do you? The perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility. Lambert: You admire it. Ash: I admire its purity. A survivor…unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality. Parker: Well, I don’t. I’ve heard enough of this, and I’m asking you to pull the plug.[Ripley moves to turn Ash off, but he interrupts] Ash: Last words. Ripley: What? Ash: I can’t lie to you about your chances, but…you have my sympathies. [he smiles]
You can commission work from yomjileam here
Patreon?
I’ve been contemplating launching my patreon page for some time now... Even if it’s a hobby, creating something can’t really run on fumes. It will help to have some sort of income be it small or large to fuel it, so I haven’t been entirely against the idea.
However, I’ve also been very hesitant because I don’t believe I will have the physical time and energy to manage tiers and rewards, and I feel uncomfortable about the uncertainties of upkeep: if I were to get a day job as planned, (that will have nothing to do with art) it will most certainly require a good majority of my time. Which is why if I do decide to use patreon, it’ll be a pay-what-you-want system(ish) where you’ll be able to get access to the same content regardless of your subscription tier.
What I plan on offering is mainly: -access to current/future projects -the process of said projects from ideation to references(visual or anything else that was involved), sketches, and WIPs -early access to finished projects -(with consent from commissioners of course!) a walkthrough of finished commission pieces
It might take me a while(heck, a long while even) to decide on whether or not I want to actually launch it, but would what was mentioned above still be interesting enough for people? If there’s anything more you’d like to see as content, please leave a suggestion wherever you feel comfortable!
Thank you for 500+!
Ask me anything and I'll answer what I can :)
We fall apart and into our gods, but God meets us where we are! Oh, and what a thought!--To live a life that’s free!-- But we are such a self-destructive bunch,
aren’t we?

Please look at this gorgeous commission I received from @yomjileam who is a treasure of an artist. Please, please go view their work. I am completely breathless at the amount of care and detail they put into this artwork for me; I actually want to hang it on my wall. They listened to every minute request I had and exceeded my expectations! I am so divinely happy; thank you Yomji. ♥
