so i was rereading your "which omega is the prefect dating?" fic and while i absolutely love it, i can't help but think about a what-if scenario.
at the end, with the modified poll showing Idia as the only option, my mind ran wild with the idea of "what if Idia impulsively used the poll as a way to launch his and the prefect's relationship?" basically, he's already in a relationship with the prefect but chose to keep it under wraps, mainly to avoid being the center of attention. it's no secret that pretty much every housewarden is pining for the prefect, and the idea of the prefect dating any of the omegas in his friend group was already a topic of gossip before the poll ever happened.
Idia knows he has fierce competition, including some princes and Vil Goddamn Schoenheit, but against all odds, he bagged the prefect. is he smug about it? absolutely, for once Lady Luck chose to bless a Shroud, why wouldn't he revel in it? but also, dear god if he fumbles he knows it would be felt for generations. not to mention all the gossip that would spring forth from this, and he's already insecure about his appearance and knows he isn't the '''ideal''' omega.
that type of pressure would get to him, on top of all the insecurities/anxieties that came pre-installed with his bloodline and childhood. so, to kick that can down the road, it was decided that the semi-best course of action (for know) would be to keep the relationship under wraps, at least until the moment he felt secure enough to be ok with the idea of others knowing.
except that this would be a double-edged sword of a solution - yeah, he won't have normies sticking their noses where it doesn't belong, but now Idia has to sit with the fact that his alpha is waltzing around unscented. does this have a very simple solution? of course it does, but he's balking at the suggestion, so the stewing continues.
at least, until The Poll drops, and Idia has no choice but to face the fact that this will probably continue until they graduate, and it'll probably get worse with time.
so what does Idia do? modify the poll to show him as the only option and hope the others take the fucking hint.
nobody takes it seriously at first, at least until the prefect (the most nonchalant motherfucker to ever grace this world) goes "oh shit, about time 😊." and even then, the majority of the school population thinks they're being fucked with until the prefect rocks up to school the next day smelling very much of omega and sporting a very distinct bite mark.
(sidenote, i firmly believe almost nobody can recognize Idia's scent, dude barely leaves his room unless absolutely necessary, and when he does he tries to avoid as many people as possible. so really, only the housewardens and some Ignihyde juniors/sophomores would be able to clock his scent.)
so yeah, the poll would make Idia seethe and the only way to calm him down would be for the prefect to allow himself to be buried in his boyfriend's nest and used as a chew toy. and not even in a sexual manner, dude's just glued to his boyfriend, biting at his shoulder and neck and making damn sure that every inch of his prefect smells like him.
i could go on, i have so many thoughts about omega Idia 💙 i absolutely love your headcanons, and i hope you have a wonderful week 💙💙💙

I agree with everything you said, Idia would be so jealous about other people thirsting over his alpha or having relationship rumors surrounding them. Most importantly, he's never be the center of rumors alike because the student body don't believe the reclusive housewarden even talks with the prefect.
Idia certainly has an ego boost when the prefect began to court and flirt with him, its no wonder the prefect is an eligible alpha (respectful, kind, reasonable, etc), so to be "worthier" than the other suitors in the prefect's eyes surely made all his omega instincts tingle.
But he also knows (at least in his own insecurities) some people will be in disbelief that the prefect chose him, Idia himself is also surprised.
However, once the relationship is hard-launched, Idia will make sure everyone knows who the prefect belongs to.
About your sidenote, my personal headcanon is that Idia doesn't abuse scent patches ONLY BECAUSE he is mostly in his room, outside of it? He is using at least three scent patches at the same time. I think he doesn't really like his scent too, maybe he smells like burned salted caramel with funeral flowers, like lilies and carnations? So he thinks his own scent is kind of gloomy, but because of the caramel he also has a salty yet very sweet smell.
Also, I think the prefect found out he was an omega by accident, you know how in his labwear he goes out of his room in the middle of the night and crosses paths with Grim? In my head, the same happened with the prefect at some point in time, Idia thought there was no reason to waste scent patches at that moment because no one is awake very late at night like him, then he stumbles into the alpha prefect.
ngl nonchalant prefect is very funny to me, the world could be crashing down and they'd be like "oh well, that was unexpected", just the go with the flow kind of person and following whatever omega's pace
