"You know as a website populated with people who treat making phone calls like one of the labors of Hercules.." I actually take offense at this statement. My sister suffers from a mild form of social anxiety disorder & your statement seems rather ignorant, especially with those tumblr users that actually do live with this conditon. Perhaps you meant those who exaggerate their anxieties, but by making such a general & uninformed statement, you devalue those whose anxieties are very, very real.
I wish I had a banner prepared for this; something like "First Anonymous Criticism!"
Seriously, I want to have it fucking framed. Laminated at least
Are you good? Did you get that out of your system? Do you feel properly vindicated in your offense on someone elses behalf?
Well then, allow me to retort:
First off, trust me, ignorance on the subject of anxiety is hardly my problem, AND I'm fully aware of the statement I made, and how it was phrased, and yes, the fact that it serves as a bit of a piss-take at posts that you'll see floating around tumblr.
Secondly, I don't hyper-qualify, I drop the occasional generalization, and literally 112% of what I say is hyperbole. Which you'd think would result in me taking a lot more flak than I do, but I'm not important enough for most people to notice what I say.
Third, given that your sister and I could probably compare notes on handling social anxiety, why don't you go show her the post and see how she reacts. If you want, you can qualify up-front that it was made by someone who uses glibness and sarcasm as a coping mechanism, maybe that will soften the blow of a half-sentence typed by a stranger on the internet as the setup for an entirely unrelated comment.
And finally, for the record, nah, I meant everyone.
