Update on my documentation re-watch:
I am now on Pet Project. (Yaaaay...)
Right off the bat, there are some interesting things I've noted:
Chadwick very clearly establishes just WHAT Ship is, stating he is "equal parts machine and beast" (although obviously this just reiterates that Ship is NOT a dog, but rather a dog-LIKE Galvanic Mechamorph).
Julie asks Ship to show her some "new tricks" (implying that she's been making him do tricks since before this episode), and she is clearly shown getting nervous when Ship transforms in her backyard and even wonders how she's going to "explain" the damage he caused (meaning that she's trying to keep Ship and the general existance of aliens a secret).
Kevin is skeptical that Ben would be doing homework on a Saturday, and the scene cuts to Ben watching a movie rather than doing homework.
Regarding Julie and Ship, that first scene with the two of them really shows how irresponsible Julie can be when it comes to alien activity. You mean to tell me she KNEW Ship's transformations might catch someone's attention, and she STILL asked him to transform regardless? I seriously doubt that NONE of Julie's neighbors heard Ship CRASHING TO THE GROUND IN HIS SUBMARINE FORM.
As for Ben, I'm still not sure how to feel. On one hand, I can understand him wanting some time to himself when he's not faced with constant danger (even without Julie being an absolute harpy... ). On the other hand, from what I've gathered so far, Ben lied about having homework so he COULD watch the movie...
Maybe he was afraid Julie would get mad at him for not wanting to spend time with her even if he DID tell her the truth? That wouldn't surprise me, but I still think Ben should've been honest with her. Like I said, Julie probably would've reacted the same way no matter what Ben said.
Then again, I'm only about 3 minutes in, so maybe I'm missing something??? We'll see.
