Are you sinless? Don’t you have a single trace of flaw in your life? Have you not done something you knew had displease Allah? I will tell you something, YOU ARE NOT PERFECT! You sin and you do things that you know have displeased Allah yet you have the will to take and spend so much time connecting the dots just to find fault on someone else's life not even thinking that you yourself have flaws that need repentance!
Are you so perfect? Do you have a medal or badge where it gives you the right to go over other people’s lives and say this and that about them and judge them even when all you have collected were just a pile of hearsay? _____ I am always fascinated at the amount of time spent by someone who says he or she is a believer of Islam but does all possible connections just to bring down and talk ill of his/her brother or sister in faith. Are the sins we have inculcated not enough for us to think for a moment that “hey I can’t do this, I have my sins as well.” or that “I know I have my own sins, how would I feel if someone would go and spread and tell people about my sins as well?”.
We do not fear nor do we think twice of hurting our fellow believer these days, we just want to go and spread rumours not thinking how such rumours can impact people. Everyone is going onto a struggle that we do not know of, yet they are still striving to be better Muslims. Why can we not do the same?
Let me remind you about this part when the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam was telling the people about his Isra wal Miraj. Anas ibn Malik Radiyallahu Anhu narrated that; The Messenger of Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalaam said: “When my Lord took me up into heaven, I passed by some people who had nails of copper with which they were scratching their faces and chests. I said: ‘Who are these, O Jibreel?’ He said: ‘These are the ones who used to eat the flesh of the people and impugn their honour.’” _____ O slaves of Allah, As Salaam! Remember that as a believer of Islam and a Muslim, one must guard his tongue and avoid things that have been forbidden. Know that gheebah [backbiting], buhtan [slander] and nameemah [malicious gossip] are things that are amongst those that have been forbidden! If you are to spend hours on connecting the dots of someone’s life, then do so for your own! Spend hours practicising Al-Muhasabah [self-inventory] so you may know where to place yourself, so you may improve yourself! You are not perfect, you are a sinful slave of Allah and know everyone of us are sinners, but the best of sinners are those who repent often! So repent as much and be sincere in your repentance. You will die alone, you will be placed in your grave alone! Only your deeds will be with you to help you, so make sure your deeds will be done in sincerity and solely for Allah! O slave of Allah, Al Kareem! Do not let your bag of deeds be of those weary and weak or be taken away from you on the day of Reckoning, refrain from talking ill of your brother in faith or else your good deeds will be taken away from you while the bad deeds of those you speak ill of in this world will be burdened by you! Speak good or remain silent! Let this be a reminder for the mindful! _____ May we all learn to be careful of what we say and remain silent if our words would just cause hatred and chaos amongst our brothers and sisters in faith. Amin. Zohayma _____ Hadith was taken from Sunan Abu Dawood
