Football camp had been quite the experience for Stan. Four long weeks of playing his favorite sport, meeting famous players, learning new strategies, and enjoying the state of the art facilities at the college in Denver, where the camp had taken place. It had been the most fun he had had in a long time. He was almost sorry to have to return to Southpark. Almost. He had missed his best friend, even in the midst of all the fun he had been having.
He walked into the classroom and didn’t immediately spot Kyle. He smiled at the people who walked past him and greeted him, gave a couple of his teammates a high five, and then looked around to see who else was in his class. His eyes immediately locked onto Wendy, and he felt a sad tug at his heart. She had broken up with him yet again at the beginning of the summer break. Between her and Kyle, it was hard to tell who he had missed more. All the seats around her were taken by her friends and she was talking excitedly to her neighbor. For a moment their eyes met. Stan was the first to look away, feeling the weird tension between them that always accompanied their breakups.
Then he heard Kyle call his name and the tension broke. He found the redhead and felt a grin tug his mouth up. God, he had missed his super best friend. Okay, he had definitely missed Kyle more than his ex. Things between him and Wendy were often rocky, but he and Kyle had fought like... six times over their entire lives. Kyle was a much needed constant in his life and probably the person he was closest to. God, it was good to see him again!
He shifted his bag on his shoulder and made his way between the rows of desks to get to the seat that had been saved for him.
“Kyle,” He said in greeting, dropping into his seat and lightly punching his friend’s shoulder. “Dude, you’ve got no idea how much I’ve missed you. There were times I considered resigning up for facebook just so I could see what you were up to, and you know how much I hate facebook. I got so much to tell you about! How’ve you been, man?”
