Okay all! I want to anonymously hear your biggest fear when you hear the words "you need dentures"! My biggest fear was it being obvious and my facial structure collapsing which I talked to my denturist about and am taking precautions to prevent!

Rant!!!
Ok so this has been building up for a while now. Its bullshit that there are people with gum infections and painful tooth infections that CANT AFFORD to fix it. Its bullshit that for the longest time people just take tooth pain and deal with it. Its ridiculous that there isn’t a better system that assures that if you have chronic pain that there is help. I paid 2,000 to have a nice set of teeth. It could be worse. But really guys. 2000 dollars is almost 3 months of my paychecks. A quarter of a year of work guys. Its bullshit because everyone says “get a better job” and everyone assumes your teeth don’t affect that. Really? I’m gonna get a good business job with 2 front teeth? I looked horrible and I knew it. And I also felt horrible. I had bad self esteem. I was not confident. I wasn’t eating as much as I should because it hurt. I was physically ill. But yet the maximum insurance policy covers like $1000. Its sad that dentistry costs so much and there isn’t good insurance for it.
Acrylic beauties
Week I don't even know anymore.
I've had these suckers for a while now. Its normal at this point. So let's reflect 1. Most people don't care 2. Those that do care think it's "neat" and "glad you were proactive" 3. I feel a shit load better about myself. Like by a million. I actually enjoy looking in the mirror. Hell yeah I'm gonna be a bit vain I waited years for a smile! 4. I can eat carrots. With temporaries. It's not the easiest but I can and it feels normal at this point. So yeah I can eat pretty normal. 5. I can eat better than I did before. I don't stop every other bite to avoid a tooth ache. 6. A lot more people are considering it or have dentures. I have learned a lot from starting this blog. I've had probably about 10 people my age (23) respond saying they either need or have dentures. Your not alone. 7. They look like my normal fucking teeth. I thought it was gonna be obvious but it isn't. 8. I'm no longer in pain. This is so important you guys. A life of pain isn't a life at all. I can eat ice cream. These are luxaries we deserve to enjoy. I regret not doing this earlier. My life has improved a billion. I'll update every so often but at this point I feel as if the journey has leveled out to a norm. Feel free to ask questions you may have
Update
I lost track of the weeks but it's been almost 2 full months since the surgery I tried corn on the cob recently and I could feel the adhesive loosening on the dentures so I simply cut the corn off. I think with the permanent pair itll work better. My biggest discovery has been that if you soak the dentures with the dentek secure adhesive overnight the adhesive rinses right off. I personally keep a coffee mug of salt water on the bathroom counter and just keep using that until it's gone (a water bottle would work fine too) I rinse until I feel the dentures "pop" loose and then I take them out. I plop them in water and rinse my mouth with mouthwash (and I use my fingers to swipe the top of the front gum line since adhesive likes to hide there) and then I scrub with a soft brush the top of my mouth and then brush the bottom teeth normal (they are still my natural teeth) The next morning I rinse the dentures and wash them with the denture brush and dawn dish soap (takes about 3 minutes only once soaked.) the adhesive swells and becomes a jello texture. Super easy I'm sure some would say I should brush before I soak them but the adhesive is such a butt! So this works for me. So im doing it this way. I did put my tongue ring back in. I feel like my dentures are wider than my origional teeth were but I am still careful. I take the tongue ring out when I'm going drinking or about to eat something big (like a burger) Links aren't easy on the app so I will post a post tonight with links to things I use and have tried. Any questions are welcomed! :)
Week 6 already?!
The soft liner hardened well and in 2 days it'll be one week since I got it. The taste is still there but decreasing daily. I discovered its way easier cleaning adhesive off the soft liner than the regular denture so theres a perk It does fit better and uses less adhesive which rocks I'm eating things like; Hamburgers Pickles (some struggle but I just bite in the back) Raw green beans Meats (all of them) Things I still struggle with; Carrots Corn on the cob Big pickles (not in thin strips) For the most part my diet is back to normal. I eat with the family and have no discomfort.
SOFT LINER
Ok, I have been brutally honest on here, I don’t want you guys to have surprises... so here goes;
I puked all over my dentist.
yep.
She put the goo in the denture (which it was OVERFLOWING!!!) and then shoved it into my mouth and forgot to tell me to lean my head forward so it all oozed down the back of my throat and hardened causing me to vomit. It was the most miserable 2 minutes of my life trying to not gag more so while it hardened.
Finally it hardened enough and then we couldn’t get it out which made me gag more now that I was no longer leaning forward.
You cant spit. You cant talk. It tastes like what I would assume Donald Trumps Asshole tastes likes (sorry had to toss a policical joke in ;) ) and you drool everywhere. And its got that taste that you smell, if that makes sense?
So we finally get it done and she ‘polishes’ it and puts it back in. It feels snug. Like a good fit. The front of the denture by my front teeth didn’t take the soft liner but she didnt want to put me through the process again which was fine. My adhesive rocks.
I got in my car and chugged a bottle of water with some Mio in it (flavored water) and the taste was still there. At this point I discovered that the top of the denture some of the teeth also feel like sandpaper from residue liner. great.
I get home and i brush the top and the teeth (not where the soft liner is now, i was told to wait 24 hours before adhesive or brushing it) and no better. Still sandpapery donald trumps asshole.
It has been almost 4 hours and I still taste donalds ass.
It is disgusting. I contemplated tearing the liner out but I dont think it will help. It obviously wont all come off, and Im sure next week I can have them fix the sandpapery part. I think once it solidifies it wont be so gross tasting. Lets hope.
I also worry that my adhesivs is too badass that this liner wont handle it and fall apart (much like trump will against bernies victory! sorry I’m done, I am from wisconsin and we just won bernie last night ;) )
I guess I will tough it out until tomorrow, tonight I return to my mac and cheese since I cant used adhesive FUCK MY LIFE. I just went grocery shopping too.
and that burger from last night is just a taste tease now.
