ATLA would have been 1000000× better if Iroh had to grow and redeem with Zuko and his shitty redemption arc wasn't off screen and we got an 'Iroh Alone' episode.

good childhood memories
My OC Cam Hoa and young Prince Iroh (the dragon of the west). The only woman that Iroh was ever really in love with, they weren't able to be together because of her status as a peasant, but also at the beginning of their relationship he was suddenly betrothed to a noble woman whom he ends up marrying and having Lu Ten with.
I think of their dynamic as a lot like Roy Mustang and Riza Hawkeye honestly. Up to and including colluding with one another to try and overthrow Azulon as his reign and mental acuity begin to decline.
She's separated from him for a few years while she begins her military career after the Fire Games where they met and subsequently broke up, but eventually ends up working directly under him after they meet again several years later.
She's his right hand man and closest advisor before the tragedy at Ba Sing Se.
young iroh only committed one crime... stealing my heart ❤️️ and also fascism
so I got inspired by @leewiththetea‘s edits and couldn’t resist making a baby Iroh
and that led to a bonus Piandao
Enjoy my boys I love them so much
“Fire and ash and a heart of ice”
Perhaps tea for two? Going off the series, I’d guess Iroh was a real ladies man back in the day. The young lady he's speaking to is my version of his wife, who never appears in the show. I named her Hoshi after Mako's wife in real life. She's the daughter of a general and I imagine their relationship was much happier compared to Ozai and Ursa.
I'm convinced the writers secretly don't actually like Iroh and just really hate Azula and really like Zuko the moment they made him into a saint that can't do any wrong, has no messiness, no trauma besides and beyond Lu Ten and failing Ozai(and this one is super vague and not developed on), and have him need nobody, no comfort, no someone acknowledging his pain, and just let him be in his stupid little tea shop in the city he tried to colonised/destroy for the rest of his days instead of being an advisor for his literal fucking ride or die.
