Will forever be flabbergasted that Zuko put Azula through what's probably the worst torture she could possibly experience and then had the nerve to talk about idealism.

What did you think would happen here Zuko? You put your disgraced sister to sit before her abuser while she's in the most compromising situation she has ever been in, to be judged and scorned at and watch as her abuser is treated with more dignity than her. What did you think would happen? She'd cry and then you'd get to hug her? Make her feel better and finally become friends with your sister? Fuck you.

i see the notion a lot that, after everything azula has done to him, zuko could not possibly ever forgive azula and if she redeems herself she should just make new friends and forge her own path forward. but honestly it's probably the opposite on who could forgive who.

azula teased and humiliated zuko when they were children, tried to trick him into coming home in chains, fought against him when he was branded a traitor, brought zuko home as a hero and gave him advice/listened to his complaining (albeit still often making fun of him), then fought against and tried to kill him after he was declared a traitor again.

zuko never tried to give her any advice or comfort during his time in the FN, exposed her lies to their mutual abuser, betrayed their nation (in her eyes), fought against her during the worst moment of her life when she was clearly suffering a mental breakdown, then canonically threw her in an abusive asylum that worsened her condition, an asylum used to lock up disobedient noble girls. he dragged her out after a year to get information out of her, made her speak again with their abuser, kept her frequently in a straightjacket, dragged her out on a quest to find their mother, and when she lashed out as an individual clearly experiencing a mental breakdown, he dangled her over a cliff and blamed her for their relationship being shit.

yeah, at this point it'd be a disservice to azula's character if she's forced to grovel and plead for HIS forgiveness. they've both tried to kill each other but he's been way worse to her than she ever was to him.

but hey at least that anti who gave the original take got something right, azula should just ditch her brother and get better friends.

One thing that would be interesting to explore is that Azula is incredibly good at creating feelings of loyalty in other people, even those she has only had very limited contact with, and the only reason Zuko isn't affected is because he's one of the least loyal people on the planet.

Haven't read the comics, but wow Zuko barely gave a shit about Azula the entire show. The only time he might have was when she was falling of the airship, and then he was disappointed when she saved herself. He also did not give a flying fuck when she broke down after Katara beat her. Fire Hazard Siblings fans are living of off crumbs and delusions (just like me fr)

Maybe he treated her better in the comics though, but I forgot the name of the site I used to read comics on for free, so I guess I'll never know.

Lets be frank, this is the main reason why a certain part of the fandom dislikes Mai:

Mai rejecting zuko's pathetic self pitying goes against the sentimnet of the whole show so far. Truly a thought provoking view on zuko. No wonder she gets so much hate.

There's people on Twitter wishing Zuko be mass murdering his own people because they are cheering on his death in the Ember Island Play. Honestly, feels like everyone forgot Zuko commited TREASON and BETRAYED the country, humiliated the Firelord and Fire Princess and got two high status baddies to betray it as well. Like, I would be expecting pro FN genocide from Aang stans, not Zuko stans of all people. This is very... must I say... interesting? I'm not sure how to feel about it besides 'wtf' and 'wow you are so stupid'. Just letting you know, the fandom is as braindead as ever.

i haven’t seen the film yet but apparently aang lashes out at katara one (1) time and then apologizes yet the zeekays are portraying him as evil for having a character flaw, saying he needs to take accountability for that minor conflict to be truly “resolved”…saying that as a z*tara shipper is crazy btw. mind you, zuko NEVER apologized to katara directly for his wrongdoings against her.

not for calling her a peasant, for attacking her when she offered to help iroh, for literally beating her unconscious and physically assaulting her multiple times (including in the comics, once they are friends), for kidnapping her and using her dead mother’s necklace, for betraying her in the catacombs and not bothering to even remember her compassion, for assisting azula in killing aang (severely traumatizing her) and then subsequently joining azula either to capture or kill her, for trying to guilt her into forgiving him by comparing her against everyone else, again showing no regard for her kindness and trust in trying to heal his scar (zuko’s words: “this isn’t fair. everyone seems to trust me now, what is it with you?”)…

i could keep going, seriously, because zuko did a lot wrong period and his treatment of katara is especially heinous, but slandering aang when he makes a total of like—i’m not even joking—three, maybe four legitimate mistakes in the entire franchise towards katara specifically…as a ZUKO stan and z*tara shipper? literally get real, are you kidding?

(and before you b*tch and moan, i like zuko! i do! but God you’re dense and likely delusional if you think aang has treated katara worse than him.)

I think it was a missed opportunity to now show Azula's reaction to Zuko leaving during the eclipse

There are so many things that could have been shown here.

Azula handling the consequences of lying to Ozai to make Zuko's position secure.

The Avatar ending up being alive.

Azula would also have been the one to make sure Mai and Ty Lee didn't suffer the consequences by assosiation.

This was the perfect opportunity to show the consequences of Zuko not thinking things through, and would also give Azula a more sympathetic view.

Instead we jumped straight to the Boiling rock where Azula doesn't even have a very strong reaction to Zuko, nor any meaningful conversation regarding him throwing her and Mai under the bus.

Even mai only mentions zuko's status as a traitor and not how his actions put not only mai but her entire family in danger
