hmm. i wonder how many of young's peculiar and often ineffective approaches to human behavior and conflict resolution are caused by 1) having telford as his best friend for so long, 2) losing that friendship, or 3) both. especially @ rush, young tries a lot of stuff that really clearly Does Not Work, but it's tempting to speculate whether any of it is shaped by that, or whether it's just young's inherent problems, whether intrinsic or mental illness driven or caused by the military-type toxic masculinity. or maybe it's all of the above...

bill bit his lip as he looked up at lale, hiding a grin. the summer holidays were finally here, and he found a chance to slip away from the burrow to come to muggle london. he hadn’t told lale ahead of time, either. he wanted it to be a surprise.

“oh, and maybe you could give me a smile, too. i bet you have a real pretty smile.”
