The man with the invisible enemies
Just by looking at his face you could see the scares held deep down and covered with a smile. He wanted nothing more than to better himself but old habits haunted him, keeping him held down like and anchor taken in by a massive ocean. His eyes, green. The centers, darker than I’ve ever seen and unable to make eye contact with anyone due to the fact that they have been deceived so many times. As he walks his head stands tall and will always stand tall no matter how hard of a beating it must take. Now he looks up at me from the other side of the small coffee shop, I freeze. I can feel his emotions of love tumbling towards me. I watch as his lips speak the words “I need you” only no sound is released from them. I get up and walk out the door, leaving a note left in my place meant for him.
Theres a knock at my door and I rush out of bed to great it, knowing it’s him. No words are said but our lips talk as they touch and our bodies colide into one after a long seperation. Once our moment has passed he looks me in the eye, a brave move for him, and tells me “forever.” As a response to my letter from the little coffee shop.
I wake to screams in the night, he stands, eyes open wide, yelling ugly words at an invisible enemy. Then he strikes the enemy, hitting nothing he tries again and again. I scream his name but he is to lost in a war he has made up. Tears begin to pour out of his eyes and the words he spits out are poison to my ears. “Stop!” I scream at him “please stop!” with that he swings towards me, sending me to the ground.
The yelling stops, he stands there, looking at me, lost in anger and confusion. “I” he begins “I…just” he shields his lips from the statement he never wanted to say “I just hit you.” The tears flow once again. I take my hands from my face and see the blood and his face turn red with shock. “I…I” his tears limit his speech and cut it into pieces. “I need…to go.” I look up at him, I can feel the tears burn as I hold them back. I know he did not mean for this to happen and I also know that it is not safe to be with him at night but I am too scared to be left alone in an empty house after this explosion, “stay” I say to him forcing his face to light up “you can sleep on the couch” I tell him and from his expression I can tell that he understands.
