Five months in (I think lol)with no hair dye! I used to be so self cautious about my gray roots, I always felt people were staring at them lol, but I don't worry about it at all now. Shaking hands with Tarek.
Tarek told us "It's important to do what you love", which in his case is building instruments, travelling and playing music. The title of the last album he released is translated as 'journey', which is exactly how he believes we should all view our fortunate lives.
Shaking hands with Roy.
Roy was all about knowing what you want to do and pursuing it. "I knew I was going to be a woodsman on the 19th of October 1987." All it took was a short demonstration of carpentry nearly thirty years ago and he was hooked.
Roy moved to the fresh air of the mountains because he believes that "There is more chance of unity when you are in small groups of people".
Shaking hands with Sue.
Sue left nursing after twelve months because she didn't want to hurt people by giving them needles. Looking after her parents who are about to hit their 90's made her realise how important it is to make decisions like these and trust them, because it's no good staying in a place that you don't want to be. Sue put that feeling into a piece of advice and told us to "Enjoy every day because you don't know what will tomorrow will bring".
Shaking hands with Peter.
"Is your man treating you right?" was the first thing he said, followed by 15 seconds of laughter. From this moment on, Peter emphasised the importance of loyalty and knowledge in young people. When asked about what lesson he would share with the youth of today, he said "Love and give people time... just love and give people time."
Peter has 8 kids and 34 grandkids, so he speaks from experience when he says that whilst the young can learn from the older generation, the old also continue learning from the young.
We asked him a bit more about his 8 children, and he told us: "I tried 1367 times, but only got 8"; another lesson from Peter in perseverance.
