They kept their arms tightly crossed against their chest, clinging to the fresh would in their side. Blood seeped in through their oversized jacket. They couldn’t look Rush in the eye. Not after they’d almost ruined everything.

it   had   taken   effort   to   put   down   the   barrier   set   up   by   the   play   pen    &&.    the   older   children,   hana   helping    &&.    lin   noticing   easily,   merely   watching   with   amusement   in   her   gaze.    she   nudges   ena   slightly,    pulling   her   attention   away   from   another   to   watch   as   flowers   were   carefully   tucked   behind   daitens   ear  ;   as   daiten   reaches   and   grabs   the   toddlers   wrist,   pulling   the   limb   closer   to   her   only   for   tenko   to   pull   it   away   and   for   hana   to   offer   her   another   toy   to   replace   it.
