Summary: Both Mike and Ginny come to some realizations.

MIKE

After Ginny got hurt, Mike stayed clear of Ginny, even though it killed him piece by piece everyday.  No more late night phone calls, no texts, nothing. He was off the grid. Everyday,  voice in Mike’s head told him that he was wrong, he needed to be there for his rookie. Yeah, it might’ve been awkward for a while, but it’s Mike and Ginny, they’d eventually go back to the normalcy of their friendship. But Mike’s stubborn self, didn’t want to risk it, he thought it’d be so much better, he was wrong. He needed to go make things right, so he was going to go to her suite at the Omni. He ran out the door, in just his sleeping shorts and one of his Padres jackets, and threw on his work out shoes. Jumped in his Range Rover and gunned it to the Omni, to Ginny.

GINNY

Ginny got hurt, not career ending, but it made her realize that she needed to slow down. The one person, who she really wane by her side through her physical therapy, or anything really, was never there. She tried to not think about him. It worked, until Blip brought him up during dinner she was having dinner at Evelyn and Blip’s house. They kept asking questions about Mike, and Ginny didn’t have the answers to the questions, she hadn’t heard from him, no late night phone calls, no texts, na-da, zip.

She tried calling him, but then she eventually gave up. She understood why he might’ve not want to be there for her, but he could’ve at least checked in on her to see how she was doing. But nothing, and that nagged her. After her dinner with Evelyn and Blip, she went back to her suite, and just sat and thought about everything, for at least a few hours. She got so worked up, that she started pacing her room.She needed to talk to him, not just because he didn’t talk to her, or he wasn’t there for her. She needed to talk to him about them. She finally just decided to go talk to him, because she knew that he wouldn’t answer her calls, he’s been radio silence ever since she went to the hospital. She grabbed her phone off the charger, grabbed her car keys, and her suite keycard. She ran down the hall to the stairwell door. Ran down the stairs and run to her car. So what if it was almost 2 o’clock in the morning, like she cared. She gunned it to Mike’s house, hoping not getting pulled over on her way there.

MIKE

“Ginny?”

“Come on, I know I haven’t talked to you at all for the past few months, but I need to talk to you. I thought I could stay away, but I can’t, I - We need to talk about it.” Mike said in frustration.

After a moments of silence, he started to bang on the door, “Ginny! Look I know you’re in there. I’m sorry, okay? I know. I’m a stubborn old man, who get his head on straight.”

He continues to bang on the door, because he doesn’t care that it’s almost 2 o’clock in the morning. After a while he stops, backs up against the wall, and slides down it until his butt hits the ground.

“Look rookie, I’m staying out here until you come out. I don’t care how long that is.” He said exhausted.

GINNY

Ginny, ran up to Mike’s house, banging on the door for a few moments, she stopped, waiting for something, someone to come out. After a few moments of nothing, she yelled “Mike! Look, I know you’ve been avoiding me but I want to talk about that night a Boardner’s. I know you said you didn’t want to talk about it, then I said that I didn’t want to talk about it, but I’m here now, and I want to talk.”

She waited for a few minutes to see if he was just sleep, because you know it was 2 am in the morning, but there was nothing.

“Okay, look I’ll just sit out here until you wanna talk.” She yelled again.

Luckily, she manage to grab her phone before running out of her suite, so she just played some games on her phone a bit. Yeah it was weird for her to just sit outside of Mike’s house, but she couldn’t take it anymore, she couldn’t handle him ignoring her.

Hell, she even bets that Blip and Evelyn had a pool going to see how long she or Mike would not crack.  

Bzzzz. Bzzzz. Bzzzz.

Ginny pulls out her phone out of her pocket and saw that the Omni front desk was calling, which was weird, because she rarely got calls from them.

“Hello?” She answered confused.

“Miss. Baker, this is Lillian from the front desk here at the Omni. Um- There’s been some complaints about noise coming outside of your room. I’ve had security go up there to check it out, but it seems that it’s one of your teammates.” Lillian said.

“Umm. Okay- Uh, who is it?” Ginny said with curiosity, because who would be there.

“Miss. Baker, it’s Mike Lawson, your captain.” Lillian said.

“Oh! Um, yeah I’ll be there right away, he can stay by my door, just tell security everything is okay. Thank you Lilian!” She said running to her car.

Ginny, drove back to her hotel as fast as she could without getting pulled over, she was alert, just in case if she got into someone’s blind spot and they didn’t see her.

She drove into the parking garage and into her reserved parking spot. Jumped out of her car and ran to the elevators and pushed the button to go up.

“Come on! What is taking so long?!” Ginny said in frustration.

The elevator was taking too long, so she said, “Screw it.”

She ran to the door for the stairwell, and ran up the flight of stairs, luckily her arm wasn’t in a sling anymore, just a brace, or else it would’ve taken longer.

Ginny got to her floor and threw the door open and rounded the corner, to see Mike, sitting on the ground, back against the wall across from her room with his thumb and pointer finger massaging his temples.

“Mike.” She said running down the hall.  

“Ginny, thank god.” He said with pain, because of him sitting on the ground.

“Look, we need to talk, and I don’t care-” Mike says before getting cut off by Ginny’s lips crashing into his.

At first Mike, was so shocked that he didn’t kiss back, he just stood there. After a few seconds, he jumped into the kiss. The kiss turned from soft and slow, to hungry kissing, teeth clashing into sometimes, but neither of the cared because they were both doing what they wanted to do for months.

Ginny pulled back, and rested her forehead on his, and said “We need to have that talk now, we are talking about this, us.”
