Star Dancer

Okay guys so this is probably the most complicated thing i have done because i have a lot in my head for this, so I have kind of made a compilation of most of the prompts because i want to do all of them but only had time for one fic so yeah this will be looong. Tag it with all the prompts you can find. We’ll make a game of it, let’s have some fun…. Chum…... ayyy lmao

This was not where Snapper Carr wanted to be when he woke up this morning; hell , ever, he never would have wanted this…

3 weeks after the REACH energy drink release “Hold up guys! Gotta get a drink before practice! HA HA HA” Celeste Carr called out to her fellow Gotham City Academy of Performing Arts ballerinas, about to start rehearsing their friend Carrie Kelley’s Ballet for the umpteenth time. Celeste grabbed a REACH drink from the woven bag her babysitting charge Terry Mcginnis gave her. She put the bottle back and tiptoed onto the stage and gave her heart in practice for hours upon hours, until she fell before casting, excluding her from the first show of Star Dancer. Celeste stayed behind after official closing just to practice the cabriole that she missed . Hours pass this way, leaping into the air, kicking out her legs and once again sweeping them under herself in the wrong way , she crawled to her poorly made bag and took another sip of REACH as she searched for the tape so she could wrap her foot and try again, she was not leaving until she got it right… and this pattern continued for months. Each day breaking and spraining and bruising like a peach all for a show she would not get to be in for another year, meanwhile the REACH left the planet after being exposed by the Justice League.

Celeste's father Snapper seemed more down than usual and it disturbed Celeste greatly, she knew that he tutored one of the Justice League kids, but not which one, so she never once mentioned all the pain she was in,from practice or her stepfather, who was never really concerned about her until he was drunk and she was late.

This time, though she wasn't late because of something she did. All the REACH that she drank along with the physical and mental stress she was put through marked her as an excellent candidate for the metagene hunt conducted by the LIGHT . They took her from the studio to an undisclosed location on the War World . once there, Celeste was injected with liquified starotech augmented by the REACH “additive”. Klairion took great pleasure in breaking her over and over again in the coming weeks , to the point of necessitating mental reassembly. They unlocked her meta power which allowed her to support herself on the energy from dying stars throughout the cosmos, somehow sharing a mental connection to some kind of entity within them, one which called out to her in every language except Terran. This connection resonated at a mystical level that manifested as beams of light sprouting from her toes and finger tips, the power earned her the bitterly ironic moniker “Star Dancer”

Meanwhile at the Watchtower Finding Celeste has been an important mission on the League and Team dossiers. However, every attempt to track her down past learning she was with the LIGHT was met with intervention of greater importance. Garfield began falling in love with the teen daughter of his teacher every time he spoke about her at briefings. He went with Virgil , Bart, Artemis, and Barbara to the dance studio where she spent half her life dancing.

“ Yeah , when she Missed the essential cabriole for the Star Dancer piece it broke the kid’s heart. She helped her best friend write that piece, it was made for her to be a Prima. We made so much money off her for the after hours practice , wraps and ice, hell, we charged the kid for the REACH drinks we stocked the back counter with for our ballerinas for free use during working hours… It was never my idea but with the Wayne foundation giving so much of our budget to the STEM programs we had no choice, I really feel bad for the kid, always so banged up, the stepdad is cruel to her ya know… some nights she wouldn’t even go home… Maybe it’s best that she’s disappeared , you’re going to arrest him for that right? If anything happens to that girl I’d say he was the one wot made her leave “ said the instructor . Garfield was hit the hardest by the news. When they returned to the Watchtower they reported the intel to batman as nightwing was called back to the team .

Klairion teleported into the watchtower once again but this time he left a reprogrammed Celeste with a faerie oak staff bequeathed to her by Felix Faust to wreak havoc upon the heroes

“Genesis clock!” Celeste cried striking a nearby clock with the rod in her hand, folding the watchtower somewhere between space and time

“ Heaven Dust “ she chirped, striking the ground with the stick spreading fine granular bits of stars and Krypton setting a good many plants ablaze, ruling out the martians and Kryptonians from the fight. Now she begun to attack the heroes more directly, blasting at them haphazardly not showing real interest in the fight, intentionally missing when she could, like she didn’t want to be there but was being controlled. Which she was… The battle changed ,however, when she struck beast boy and screamed “Zodiac CURSE” From which point he lost control of his Shapeshifting abilities and transformed into some kind of towering primal beast unlike any seen before towering high above any other member, Long Matted green fur hung from his skin missing in patches where he was burned by the stardust. Fangs inhabited his mouth and claws graced his boney fingers.

Nightwing tried to get close to Beast Boy and try to help him, but the animal had taken over and he attacked, taking Dicks right eye {Batman: beyond, in canon his eye gets shot out, not sure if this is better sorry… also, Baby Terry Mcginnis(Batman:Beyond) }

Watching the blood hit the floor awoke something in the semi-conscious Ballerina “What have I done? I’m sorry! Let me help!

RECTIFY THE DEFIANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Calling for this spell recalled the Zodiac curse and the Heaven Dust, as well as the Genesis Clock, somehow the spell also resurrected Jason Todd however it left the first robin still missing an eye. Once the LIGHTs control over her powers ceased she fell apart, dust, scattered across the stars, she never wanted to be used as the LIGHTs weapon, now she could truly be a star dancer.

Dick did not blame Gar, even if he blamed himself, he decided to retire then and there.

The green 18 year old struck out on his own out of the zeta tubes only to be slowly pulled up by a purple tractor beam

Day 3 Age Reversal

"You want me to what!?" Wally asked looking at his younger sister Iris like she was insane, which at the moment she could be. Iris huffed before crossing her arms and looking up at her older brother before saying "I want you to go meet Barry as the Flash."

"Riiiight. Because that sounds like a good idea. You and I both know that is never going to happen. Nightwing's first rule is 'no giving your secret ID out'."

"But you told me it."

"You're my little sister who lived across the hall from me and for 3 years lied to our parents about what I was really doing." Wally told her and leaned back against the wall in his apartment. "Then don't tell him your secret ID! Just meet him... Pleeeeeaaase." She begged, while her eyes went wide and tears started to slowly form in them. At the first sniff, Wally was shooting across the room in a blurr and picking up his little sister, into a strong hug, while quickly hissing "Okay, okay! Just don't cry. I'll meet him as the Flash, not as Wally West okay?"

"Great! Barry will be so excited when he sees you!"

"Why do I feel like this is going to be a mistake?" Wally asks himself as his sister leaves his room.

5 Months Later

Wally or rather the Flash leaned against the wall in the hospital room. Darkness filled the room as the only one inside besides himself lay in a coma, after replicating his formula. Flash looked down at his left hand his held a notebook in a tight grip. Not just any notebook though, his notebook the one he had first written in when he got his powers and had written everything down in it. Swallowing the information was hard, even harder to disgust was the fact that he wasn't even sure if Barry was going to survive. He had barley survived, why would some kid do this?

Settling down into the chair next to the bed, he flipped open the notebook and used the moonlight to read through it. He had to hold in a laugh as he found Barry's handwriting besides his own with little notes about how horrible Wally's handwriting was. Wally was thankful that Dick and the others had agreed to watch over Central for a bit, while he waited to see what the future held for Barry Allen.

3 Months Later

"I can't believe I'm doing this." Wally groaned as he watched a small blonde, ten year old run circles around the few other sidekicks that there were. Nightwing otherwise known as Dick Grayson laughed and leaned back against the fence railing of a small farm. The perfect place for a new speedster to run and meet two new sidekicks. "I'm just surprised it took this long for the kid to get you to agree to let him meet the others."

"I just hope Ollie doesn't accidentally stab him with an arrow." Roy otherwise known as Red Arrow hummed as he watched the boys ran around.

"Bruce would do that first." Dick said before stiffing and yelling "No throwing bird-a-rangs Bruce!"

"It's Batboy! And no names in the field." Bruce snapped before trying to catch Barry once again when the speedster flipped his cape up over his head.

"Why'd he choose Batboy? I thought you were going to call him Robin." Wally asked his cowl down around his shoulders.

"I tried! But the kid had everything that 'Batboy' needed and I didn't have the heart to say no. You try saying no to him when he gets all puppy eyed." Dick whined before going back to watching the three, Wally and Roy alongside him. "These kids are going to do amazing things." Wally stated and didn't have to look at his teammates to knew they agreed. Barry's yelp of surprise as an arrow net wrapped around his legs, and he fell straight into Bruce causing a sidekick pile up that Ollie joined in when he jumped onto top of the two.

@youngjusticeam day 2: sports AU (A rough Pitch AU) summary: Artemis Crock is making history as the first woman to play in Major League Baseball. In the span of a season, she comes to realize that playing in the big leagues isn’t half as hard as making her own place in the Gotham Knights clubhouse. [pt. 1 of ?] (1500+ under the cut)

Everyone has set their eyes, ears, hopes and dreams on hometown heroine, Artemis Crock, as she’s been called up to start for the Gotham Knights in their season opener against the Coast City Sharks. 

The Knights’ usual starting pitcher, Roy “Speedy” Harper, is still on the disabled list after that infamous fight and though they wish him well, the Knights management doesn’t seem to be in any rush to get him back on the field.

Crock’s been in the public eye for years, but never like this. She’s changing the game. The whole world is going to be watching history in the making when she takes the mound Tuesday night.

Let’s see what she can do.

Artemis was seven years old the first time she stepped foot into Wayne Stadium. 

It was an unusually warm spring day and the sun-soaked seat burned the back of her legs as she watched her father pitch his first (and only) no hitter. She remembers the way the crowd held their breath on every pitch, how her mother squeezed her hand so tightly whenever a pop fly threatened to break the streak, and the magic of the moment when her father’s famous fastball made contact with the catcher’s glove in the last pitch of the last inning.

The frenzied cheers from the crowd and the celebrating from the loudspeakers and the mass of people (her mother and herself included) running out onto the field blur in her mind. She vaguely remembers being placed onto someone’s shoulders, getting passed around from person to person like a rag doll until she reached her father’s waiting arms. He hoisted her up on his hip and buried her face in his jersey when the Gatorade came crashing down over both of them. There were whistles, laughs, and cameras, and people yelling, but the moment she remembers clearest is when her father took off his cap, stuck it on her head, and called her his lucky charm in front of 40,000 people. 

A lot has changed since then. 

When Oliver leads her inside to greet her new teammates for the very first time, the clubhouse, affectionally nicknamed the Cave, goes silent. Artemis surveys the room for a friendly face, but can’t find a single one in the sea of Knights staring back at her. What she does find is nothing new: trepidation, disinterest, confusion, anger, mild-to-high desire. Artemis rolls her eyes. They just never know how to react to her. 

“C’mon, fellas,” Oliver admonishes them, “that’s no way to greet your new pitcher.” 

A bitter snort comes from the redhead sitting on the sofa in front of them. 

He looks at Oliver defiantly when he says, “Wouldn’t need a new pitcher if someone had just done their job.” 

Artemis recognizes him as the team’s shortstop, Wallace Kid Flash West, and she promptly decides that his nickname more aptly describes his maturity level than the style of his game or the legacy he represents. 

“Shut up, Wally,” Conner Kent, first baseman, grunts from the back of the clubhouse. A small, wet towel flies through the air and hits Wally in the back of the head. 

Artemis snorts and she can feel the tension in the room begin to ease. 

“I’m serious,” Wally says, grabbing the towel from the floor and tossing it back at Conner. He rounds back on Oliver. “We had a perfectly good pitcher before you decided to-”

“Wally,” the team captain, catcher Kal Durham, interrupts him sharply as he rises from the bench in front of his cubby. “Shut up. You are being rude.” 

He doesn’t shut up. Instead, he stands from the sofa and gestures at Artemis, still not looking at her, but at Oliver. 

“I just don’t see why we had to call her up when Garth and Jason could’ve held it down until Roy got back. Now it’s going to be a thing to send her back down and the media is going to rip us-”

“Hold up. Listen here, West,” Artemis’s cutting voice fills the room, “your perfectly good pitcher blew out his shoulder in a stupid bar brawl, so if you want to blame someone for changing up the lineup, you can take your complaints straight to Harper.”

Artemis narrows her eyes at him when he looks at her like she’s an ant trying to crash his picnic. 

“And there won’t be a thing because I’m not going anywhere. I came to play baseball and that’s what I’m going to do. I’m here to stay.”

“Whatever, Rookie,” Wally sneers, roughly grabbing his water bottle from the sofa before walking past her and Oliver towards the exit. “When Roy gets back, I’ll be the first to kiss your ass on its way out.”

As Wally leaves, he bumps into Dick Grayson, old friend and present second baseman, knocking his sunglasses askew on the bridge of his nose.

Taking in the sour atmosphere, Dick clears his throat, fixes his glasses, and asks, “He’s already talking about ass kissing? Did I miss the welcome party?”

The players laugh and, without the scathing redhead with the misplaced anger issues in the room, Artemis feels a lot more ready to take the field tonight. 

Her first pitch is a ball, just a hair too high for the umpire, who gets booed by the buzzing crowd. Kal throws it back to her and she rolls the ball in her glove a few times to gather her frayed nerves and take a breath.

One pitch at a time, baby girl.

Her father’s voice is an intrusion, unwelcome and unsettling in her mind. In this stadium, on this field, on this mound, it was inevitable that he’d pop up sooner than later. 

As she acknowledges Kal’s call and her fingers find the laces on the ball, she imagines for a moment that the batter in the box is Crusher, tall and mean and waiting for her to screw up. 

Her next pitch is a fastball, swung on and missed. 

The air in the stadium turns electric as fans stand on their feet and their voices, chanting Art-e-mis, Art-e-mis, drown out the critic in her mind. Kal lifts his mask and sends her a smile. 

“Just like that,” he says, throwing her a ball.

She sets up for the next pitch with a confident smirk, and the game goes on.

The roar of the crowd begins to shake the old stadium at the start of the fourth. Artemis, nearly ready to start the inning, tosses the bag of chalk to the edge of the mound and tries to pinpoint the cause of the commotion. People in Gotham don’t usually get excited over nothing. Her gaze follows their pointing fingers and clapping hands towards the right field Jumbotron, where a tall man in a worn out Knights cap nods at the vigilant cameraman who caught him on his way out.

Artemis hangs onto the baseball in her glove with a white knuckled grip as her chest tightens. Her thoughts race in circles. Why?

On the screen, her father faces the camera fully, pulls off his cap, and waves it in the air- and the crowd goes wild. 

Lawrence Crusher Crock is still a fan favorite, apparently.

She starts the inning by skimming the batter in the back of the leg and it doesn’t get better from there. Her hand keeps losing the ball too quickly. Oliver watches her walk the next two batters, loading the bases, before he approaches the mound and asks if she needs an out. 

She takes it. 

As the crowd’s applause and the cameras follow her slow jog back to the dugout, she pulls off her Knights cap and can’t help but feel like the number 7 on the back of her brand new jersey doesn’t feel very lucky anymore.

A rough start for Knights pitcher Artemis Crock as she gives up two runs in the second and nearly costs the game in the fourth by loading the bases after a series of wild pitches. I thought Durham look a little tired jumping after all those balls. Luckily for the Knights, Garth Temp was able to strike Dover out before the guy could start something and initiate a 1-6-3 play to finish the inning. Infield and offense really came through for the Knights today. What do you think of tonight’s game, Cat?

People are being too rough on her, Snap. Talk about a changeup. Artemis Crock just made history. Five strikeouts, three flawless assists. Did you get a glimpse of that splitter in the second? Sure, she wasn’t in long enough to qualify for a win, but Crock held her own until the fourth. She’s got a lot of new talent to offer the Knights, especially with their latest pitching shakeup. You have to acknowledge the moment, Snap. There’s a lot of little girls out there who just saw the impossible become possible. I think things will only get better for Crock from here on out.
