I literally had to pick my jaw off the floor last week when I found out that these two loves from very different sides of the music spectrum had come together for a marvelous collaboration. Never did I expect NYC producer Jai Wolf and Oakland’s own indie rock wonder Day Wave to show up on a song together. But that’s exactly what’s happened on Your Way, a song on which Jai Wolf continues to spread his varicolored wings and exhibit a stunning versatility as a musician. Your Way is a far cry from Jai Wolf’s early future bass hits and it’s yet another auspicious harbinger of what to expect on his debut full length The Cure To Loneliness, out April 5th via Mom+Pop Music. Sajeeb Saha travels further down the indie pop meets indie electronic path with jangly nostalgic, gauzy strumming Your Way, taking on the dreamy tones of Day Wave with lush guitar tones drenched in heavy synths. And really, nothing beats hearing Day Wave on a fresh song since it’s been awhile since we’ve had anything new from Jackson Phillips, ever the king of wistful and dreamy, warm and wispy indie rock.
Jai Wolf says of Your Way: "I was really excited to work with Jackson [Day Wave] after a friend showed me his music 2 years ago. We wrote the lyrics fairly quickly - Jackson was noodling on his guitar and somehow spilled out exactly what I was feeling at the time. Releasing this song is like letting go of the emotional weight on my shoulders." He’ll be heading out on an extensive tour across North America on April 10th, with many shows already sold out.
