@hetaliamondaychallenge I’ve gotten around to participating!

I was wanting to do something more but then I realized I didn't have the time, but there's a backstory behind the eagle's wing and I’ll make it later on. Made most of this while waiting for a call and then didn’t have the will to finish the rest of it up so that’s why some parts of it are more sketchy than others

Al’s in a park ranger uniform (or at least the closest I could make it to one) in case anyone needed to know

Day 1 - Flowers

On May 9, 2016, the Canada 150 tulip, also called the Maple Leaf tulip, was unveiled in Commissioners Park in celebration of Canada’s 150th year of independence. It was bred by the Netherlands to resemble the Canadian flag, and that is what I tried my best to draw :)

Now for more background and me trying very hard not to write an essay but still wanting to get history off my chest: 

The Netherlands has been annually sending Canada tulip bulbs as gifts starting at the end of WWII after Canada helped with their liberation, allowed the Dutch royal family take refuge in Ottawa during the invasion, and upon the birth of Princess Margriet “part of the Ottawa Civic Hospital was declared Dutch soil, to allow the new princess to hold Dutch nationality exclusively”. Ottawa hosted the first Canadian Tulip Festival in 1953, and in 2001 the tulip designated the official flower of Ottawa.

A lot of things in here it would be my first time drawing so overall I’m quite proud of it :) and no I still don’t know how to draw parallel and straight lines, it’s one or the other, take it or leave it
