Living the dream. I shouldn’t have griped about Monday when Tuesday fared far worse. Heavy winterkill trap net hauls of bullheads and carp in the relentless rain. Back on shore, two inches of precip fell on the glacial moraine’s clay soils. Winching was necessary to pull the truck, boat, and trailer off the landing zone, until the winch cable pulled free from the spool on the next pull up the hill, rendering it useless. Muskie round up. Sometimes I gotta take a break from stream habitat work and get back to the basics of fisheries management and touch some fish. It’s a good reminder of why I love what I do for a living. All hands were on deck for the annual muskie rearing pond harvest.
