#YourShotMeetUp: Washington DC

This past Saturday June 23, 2018, Your Shot hosted our community at National Geographic headquarters in Washington DC and shared with them a behind the scenes look at our curation process, from assignments and stories to the Daily Dozen to National Geographic's Photo of the Day and being published in the magazine. The team also revealed a sneak peak of upcoming new features to the Your Shot rolling out later this summer.

Thanks to former White House staff photographer Lawrence Jackson for sharing his experience about working eight years for President Barack Obama, and leading our sunset photo walk to the White House.

Your Shot Photo Walk: San Francisco, CA

On Saturday April 7, 2018, Your Shot hosted a sunset photo walk in San Francisco, California led by San Francisco Chronicle Scott Strazzante, who recently curated our "Exploring Community" story.

It was so much fun to explore Pier 39 with everyone who attended, including Your Shot photographers Stan Pechner who used long exposure to make this frame of the Merry-Go-Round and Liliana M. who documented a couple taking a selfie. Dzung Tran captured a young boy up in the air while jumping on a trampoline and Vibhu Bithar photographed another young boy looking through the binoculars. Elizabeth Paoletti used the chain link fence to creatively make this frame of Alcatraz Island and Lynda Hanwella photographed these tourists out taking pictures. Upload your photos to Your Shot and use the hashtag #YourShotMeetUp so we can see the images you took.

Your Shot Is Coming to Reykjavik, Iceland! 

National Geographic photographer Stephen Alvarez along with editors Monica Corcoran and Jeanne Modderman will be in Reykjavik on January 30 for a photo walk and #yourshotmeetup. We’re looking forward to seeing all of our Icelandic members and photographing together in beautiful downtown. Supported by Microsoft, Stephen will be there to photograph the Northern Lights and promote his upcoming Your Shot assignment, Capturing Action (launching January 23).
