Breaking Free from Limits. These are things we have all heard before; you're too young to know what love is. You're too old to understand technology. You're too young, or too old to live on your own. You can't do things for your self, make your own choices. Someone else, some how, always seems to know what you want better then you do. As teenagers, picking what college or university they will go to in the fall right now, and what program they will attend, this can become, for some, one of their biggest breaking free moments. Will they follow their dreams and go into the program and school they want, or will they go into the program you as their parent have been pushing them toward. In our society; though it is getting less and less, we still see so many people and their amazing ideas turned away or turned down because of simple, insignificant things. Age, gender, sexuality, skin colour, disabilities, tattoos, hair colour, if even one of these things doesn't match up to our societies standers of how the person in this position should look, then we don't even stop to see if their qualified. So much of the time many people don't even bother to stop and talk to those who look, or seem different then us. However, if we look back, some of the people who look, seem or feel least qualified for the task God has given them, are the ones who make the biggest impact on our history! If people never pushed the limits and fought for what they believed in then we wouldn't have the amazing life stories of these Christian men; Sir Martin Luther King Jr., Sir Isaac Newton, Sebastian Bach, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and of course, our brave, young fighter, David. Last week we learned about Moses. We learned about how he broke free from fear, he stopped doubting in him self and put his faith entirely in God. He stood up to the pharaoh and said without fear, to "Let my people go". This week we learn of another who broke free. David broke from the age limits his brothers and fellow Israelites had put on him. Saul had said to him that he was unable to fight the Philistine Goliath because he was young, not a warrior, where as Goliath has been a warrior since he was a child. David heard this but still knew in his heart that he could stand against this man that everyone was fearing. He simply explained to Saul that he had faith in The Lord, that he knew God would be with, for He had rescued him once before from a lion and a bear. When the Israelites had finally seen young David be step up and make his way toward the battle line, with no armor, they stood and listened. He bravely says that he will fight against the Philistine in the name of the Lord Almighty. And with that, David throws one stone and wins the battle. Gains respect for both him self and for his people. He shows everyone that it doesn't matter what your age, size or "class" may be, you can still win the battles you put your faith into. When you turn to God and ask him help guide you along your away, you can accomplish great things. Jesus tells us to love everyone. To put our judgments aside. God blesses each of us with a different gift. God also gives of us our own looks, but yet we are made in his image. Lets help one another break free from limits. Don't put limits on your dreams. Encourage others to dream no matter what they think may limit them. Reach for the stars, even if you land in the clouds, you still got an amazing view!
