When you and Casey walked into the lair you were secretly hoping to see Leo hanging out in the den, but when your eyes scanned the room he was nowhere to be found. You should've expected as much, when you texted him that you were coming over earlier you didn't get a response, which meant that he was probably busy either meditating or training. It still left you feeling strange while Casey chatted with Raph and Mikey and you stood to the side, still waiting for him to pop out and greet you.
"So are you guys still down to go to the rink?" Casey asked. They had been planning this for about a week, Mikey wouldn't leave Casey alone about wanting to go play on the ice, and Casey would never pass up a chance to show off. You and Raph were pretty much roped into it by association, but that was fine. At least it wouldn't be boring.
You couldn't help the feeling of wanting Leo to be there too, though . .
"Y/n," Casey said, hitting your shoulder to get your attention. Seems you were more zoned out than you thought. "You ready?"
"Yeah," you sighed, nodding. Before anyone could move however, Raph stepped up and pointed you towards the dojo.
"He's in there if you wanna invite him," he grinned. You blushed, laughing a little and shrugging him off.
"He's busy," you said, rubbing your arm. "I don't wanna bother him."
"He's not busy," Mikey said, joining Raph in his onslaught of encouragement. "Besides, if you do it he might actually agree to come."
"You obviously wanna see him," Raph pressed into your side, teasing you again before you could speak. "Just go ask him."
"I . ." you started, looking back towards the dojo. Suddenly you felt very warm and nervous and you found yourself frozen in place, not sure of what to do next.
"I don't know what you're so worried about," Casey said, crossing his arms over the back of his head and giving you a dumb smile. "It's not like he'll say no to you."
Your eyes darted between the three boys and a small smile made its way to your face, which only made your blush more apparent. Raph laughed at your shy demeanor and you finally held your hands up in surrender.
"Alright, fine, I'll go ask him," you said, starting to make your way to the stairs. "Cut me some slack guys, I'm trying here."
"We're proud of you!" Mikey yelled, and you turned briefly to flash him a smile while also warning him to lower his volume lest the object of your affections hear.
You stepped slowly up the stairs, knowing in the back of your mind that the boys were probably laughing amongst themselves at how timid you were being. A hard swallow took over your throat as you carefully made your way just inside the door, trying to be as quiet as possible.
He was sitting underneath the big tree, his shell turned to you. You wrung your hands together as you realized you had absolutely no idea how to approach him. Anytime he was meditating you simply waited for him to finish, you've never interrupted a session before. Guilt was already suffocating you and you hadn't even made a move yet.
You knew the guys were probably waiting on you. After a moment you willed yourself to move forward, not wanting to look like a crazy person just standing here and watching him. Thank God for the carpets on the floor, if you had made any obnoxious noises while you walked you would've fallen over dead.
As you got closer your heart beat quicker, and you had to pause again as you got within touching distance. You'd just reach out and tap his shoulder. Yeah . . That didn't sound bad, right? Just raise a hand, soft touch . .
"If you're trying to sneak up on me it's not working."
You could've sworn your heart stopped. Oh God, he sounded annoyed, too. Shit. You knew you should've never let the guys talk you into this.
"I'm so sorry," you squeaked meakly behind him, and his head finally whipped around. "I honestly wasn't trying to bother you, I just wanted-"
"Woah, hold up," he said, starting to smile and standing to face you properly. "I didn't know you were here."
He brought you into his arms for a hug. As much as you enjoyed his embraces, right now you were still too confused and embarrassed to really be present for it. What the hell was he talking about?
"Clearly you did," you said as he pulled back. He laughed at your awed expression, rubbing the back of his neck.
"No, I mean, I knew someone was here," he said, waving his hands shortly. "I thought it was Mikey trying to prank me again. I seriously didn't know you were here, I'm sorry."
"It's okay," you laughed, feeling a little more relieved. "Still on his water balloon kick?"
"Unfortunately," he groaned, rubbing his temple. "It's too cold for them, he's crazy."
You giggled a little, watching his eyes and his face and how pretty he looked, and then you remembered why you came here in the first place.
"Um, speaking of cold," you smiled, shuffling your feet and avoiding his eyes, they were too much for your heart right now. "You totally don't have to, but, me n' Casey are going to the rink with Raph n' Mikey, and we were wondering- well . . I was wondering, if maybe you wanted to come with?"
He listened as your voice got quieter as you talked and watched your fingers fidget with each other, and his stomach was doing flips. He couldn't help but feel excitement at the thought of you taking time out of your day just to think about him and wonder if he'd wanna spend time with you. He wished there was an easy way to communicate to you that that would always be a yes.
"If you don't want to I totally get it, it's okay," you spoke quickly, not giving him a chance to speak. He laughed again, shaking you out of your nervous rambling. He sounded so pretty when he laughed . .
"Yeah, of course," he said, giving you one of those bright smiles. It made your heart pound and your brain buzz.
"Okay," you said dumbly, smiling like an idiot and nodding. You breathed out a heavy sigh as you walked out with him. Well, that wasn't so bad . .
Getting there was half the fun, everyone was in a good mood and the boys kept giving you knowing glances, which made you giddy. You were practically attached to Leo's hip and you wouldn't have it any other way.
For a while you watched Mikey show Casey up on the ice, making everyone laugh. It didn't take long for Raph to join in, and by that he meant more to try and trip up the other two. You had taken a seat beside Leo on the outer barrier of the rink and he was leaning over, watching the chaos. Your eyes made lots of little glances to him, his arms looked really good perched up like they were . .
Your heart jumped into your throat when he suddenly moved and you looked away for fear of him catching you in the middle of staring. He leapt over the barrier and slid in front of you, looking up to meet your eyes. For a minute you were worried that he could hear your heart beating against your ribcage. He gripped the edge on one side of you and held his other hand out for you to take.
Well he was certainly in a playful mood. You wondered what had gotten into him as you laughed, taking his hand and hopping off of the median.
Critical thinking skills had gone out the window as soon as you got lost in the contact, and when you jumped off the barrier it completely fazed you that you were indeed landing on solid ice.
When you hit the floor your legs began to fall out from underneath you, and you gripped hard onto to Leo's shoulder while still holding his hand.
"Woah, I gotcha!" He said, trying not to laugh at your fumbling but felt better when you started to cackle yourself, which made it slightly difficult to get you standing up straight again.
"I'm sorry," you chuckled, your hand still braced on his arm and your cheeks red from being windblown by the cold, also probably from embarrassment but it was completely endearing. He wondered if he were anybody else would you be clinging this closely . .
He started to move and you did your best to keep the pace. After a moment though you gave up and let him drag you along, he was so balanced and strong it didn't matter to him anyway. Your shoes were extremely slick on the ice and when he started to spin you around you gripped onto his arm with both hands, making him laugh.
"You're gonna make me fall on my ass!"
"It wouldn't be the first time," he smirked. Little shit.
Mikey and Casey were moving at full force, not fully paying attention to where exactly they were going. When Leo noticed there was about to be a head on collision he pulled you back quickly into his arms to get you out of the way, and in doing so you made contact somewhat roughly with his plastron. The rapid succession of events had your head spinning.
"Are you okay? I didn't mean to pull that hard, I'm sorry."
He pushed you back a little and brushed some hair away from your face. Despite the cold air you were burning up at his touch.
"Yeah," you said, it was all you could manage as both of his hands rested on your arms. He nodded shortly, still holding you close to him.
The quiet didn't really last that long but it was almost too much. You could've gotten lost in it if granted the time. All you could do was stand frozen, staring at his eyes. It was like you were locked on them, you couldn't bring yourself to look away. You knew that you were staring and felt increasingly warm with every second that passed but even then it was impossible for you to look anywhere else. He was so unbelievably beautiful. Your fingers pressed into his skin.
A burst of screams and a hard tumble had both of you on the ground in a matter of seconds, and the shock from it only encouraged you to glue yourself to Leo that much more, especially since his arm wrapped around you to try and help break your fall. It didn't take long for everyone to start laughing again and Raph danced around the pile of bodies on the ice, satisfied with his work.
"Some ninjas," he laughed, reaching to trip Casey again as he tried to regain his footing. "You guys look ridiculous right now."
"Well you look like a fucking asshole," Casey griped, struggling to get upright. You turned when you heard soft laughter coming from the boy lying next to you.
"You okay?" Leo asked, that pretty smile still plastered to his pretty face. He raised you up with a large hand pressing gently on your back. You let all your weight fall back against him and a dumb grin took over your features.
"My bones," you whined, going limp in his grasp. You heard him laugh again and it made your face warm. "They broke them all."
"Alright, I gotcha," he said, adjusting so he could hoist you up into his arms. You played dead to hopefully fight off the massive blush and heart palpitations you got from being carried bridal style by him. When he faked you out by pretending to drop you however you jolted back into life, gripping onto him. He was laughing again. Little shit . .
"Asshole," you said, punching his arm.
"Really?" he asked, dropping your torso and letting you hang onto him by his belt straps, making you cackle again. "After I offered to carry you and everything?"
You managed to climb up enough to wrap your arms around his neck. Leo's hand found your back again and you smiled when he rubbed it a little, making his way back to the edge of the rink. He helped to sit you on the barrier and as much as you hated to, you let him go. You ran a hand through your hair as he let the distance between you grow a little more, which you also hated.
"I think that's enough ice for one day," he smiled, moving to sit next to you. That's better.
"Are you cold?" you asked. He shrugged.
"I've actually been pretty warm," he grinned. You smiled for him, another rush of blood coming to your cheeks.
