Look at this black beauty! Someone mentioned Tannat the other day and it inspired me to dig in the cellar for this 2013 Tannat from Napa-based winemaker Yannick Rousseau. His eponymous label, Y. Rousseau, delivers with this southern French grape. Vineyards are in Mendocino at 2400 feet. This wine is a brute - powerful fruit, acid and earth, complex spices. It needs food - I had it with lamb shank.
