Did you know that there was a version of Ys I where Dogi was the protagonist?

New Ys I -3D- Gaiden was released on December 19th back in 2005. The game was published by Taito and developed by Falcom and Barnhouse Effect. It was available through i-mode (a mobile internet service popular in Japan) and by extension, the i-appli service called Ys/Falcom i.

Gaiden tells “another story” featuring Dogi as the main character and was based on the system of New Ys I -3D- which was released on March 22nd of that same year.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any gameplay videos or anything other than this singular screenshot (and a few blog posts made about the game).

Rough Translation: Abandoned Ruins | Dogi: “What the hell? The path’s blocked?”
