DISTINCT LIFE X PUMA INSPIRE 124C
In a continuing effort to expand the INSPIRE brand, the DISTINCT LIFE has partnered on a limited-edition, Puma California.
First released in 1983, the California traces its roots to the sport of tennis before later being adopted by casual wearers for style instead of sport. For their purposes, DISTINCT LIFE applied a modern interpretation to the model, updating it with an immaculate blend of materials, color, and purposeful messaging.
The “Inspire 124C” comes draped in premium nubuck utilized for the toebox, heel counter, and Formstripe logo. A thick mesh runs along the lateral quarter panel while the medial side sports “INSPIRE” lettering stitched on top of leather. The look comes together through a tonal execution in Distinct Life yellow, listed as 124 C in the Pantone color system, the golden hue that’s become the agency’s signature color. The shoe sits atop a glossy midsole and gum outsole, which provides a dope, contrasting pop and the Distinct Life “1/10” branding on the tongue, insoles, and quarter panel tab provide the finishing touches on a shoe bound to turn heads and spark convos wherever it’s worn.
Through the DISTINCT LIFE x Puma INSPIRE footwear project, 10% of the proceeds from the sales of the shoes will go toward The Yunion / Cave Of Adullam Transformational Training Academy, a Detroit-based, non-profit organization with a mentoring through martial arts program whose mission is to teach, train, and transform young boys. Through researching the initiatives of The Yunion and listening to founder, Jason Wilson’s book, Cry Like a Man, the DISTINCT LIFE knew that the seeds in this organization were planted in good soil, so part of the proceeds from the INSPIRE shoes will go toward helping to water those seeds.
“As an agency, we enjoy our design and product work with our partners but our aim is to create meaningful dialog and opportunity. We want to do our part in the collective movement of moving our communities and youth forward, and the Yunion is an excellent representation of that.” -DISTINCT LIFE
