Learning to be Normal 101 (Student Count: 1) [AO3 Yurikuro Fanfic]

Friendship is the hull of my ship. I like fix-it Chloe, but I would rather she fixes her friend instead of falling in love with a WIP.

So, in this fanfic, they are friends. She teases him and gives him a different perspective on the Forgers.

Learning to be Normal 101 (Student Count: 1) [AO3]

As Yuri walks Chloe home, she forces him to evaluate his feelings about the Forgers by describing various Twiyor scenarios and making him rate them. He doesn't like it.

“I’ve thought about it a li’ll,” she said. “And I have an exercise for you.” He glowered, knowing he won’t like her next words. “I’m gonna describe something. Tell me how it makes you feel. Imagine Loid Forger is hugging Yor." Yuri gnashed his teeth. “And?” “Rate that scenario out of 10. How d'you feel about it?” “Minus infinity.” Chloe chortled. “You're adorable when you act this childishly.”

I loved stakeout and your take on Yuri and Chloe!

I'm curious what started the situationship in the first place? I imagine it was Chole who made the first suggestion while Yuri splutters incomprehensibly (because let's face it, he's only marginally better than Yor at hiding things and being subtle)

Would you write another fic on them?

Oh my good lord! I am so sorry I am just now seeing and replying to this ask! I think my inbox is messed up? I admit I don’t often check it tho, as I don’t expect to get asks much 😅 Thank you so much @munchkinmarauder!

I’m so pleased you liked Stakeout! It was an absolute blast to write, and it’s one of the very few smuts of mine I’ve looked back and read and didn’t cringe the whole way through! 😆 A big accomplishment for me!

I think it’s super fun to theorize about Yuri and Chloe’s relationship, because we obviously don’t have much to go on in canon. It’s been kind of a breath of fresh air for me to explore their dynamic compared to the intricacies of Twiyor, since their relationship is so much more developed. I liked kind of growing their personalities and shaping their romance in my own way. That being said, I’m excited to see how it develops in canon as well!

As far as their situationship goes, I started that in my fic universe because I think it’s kind of obvious in canon already that Chloe’s got a bit of a crush on Yuri (bless her) and Yuri is about as dense as a concrete wall when it comes to romance, at least for now. I think he’d only develop a romance with someone he really, really trusts and respects. Someone he can be vulnerable with. And someone that will introduce him to the world, the way Yor has experienced, kind of? But it would take him a long, loooooong time to open up to even the possibility. I don’t think his heart is as open as his sisters. I think he’s been content for so long with just her in it, so sharing his heart with others is more frightening for him. So I figured a Yuri romance with whomever would have to start casual, be it sexually or not. And it would take a lot of time to develop and deepen, and a lot of patience from his partner. I think Chloe fits that description perfectly! I totally agree that she would have to initiate at first, and Yuri would fumble his way through. And I mean fumble. Again, Chloe has to really be patient with Yuri to deal with him and his ways.

If sex is involved, another great author, smiledarnyou wrote a fic where Chloe guides Yuri through their first time together, it kind of inspired me on the situationship dynamic. If you haven’t yet, you should read it here!

Also, the Yurikuro President and my tomodachi wife @silverwindsss has written absolute top tier fics on the Yuri/Chloe ship, including the masterpiece The Man in the Uniform. I can’t recommend that series, and all her fics enough. She has explored their characters a great deal and has helped their little fandom grow so much. I’m very inspired by her interpretations.

And yesssss!! I love writing Yuri and Chloe! I have developed such a surprising fondness for Yuri, especially since Stakeout that I honestly didn’t expect! I’ve grown protective over him, kind of similar to how I am with the Forgers, and I have such a new appreciation for his character and his growth. I’ve really enjoyed pondering his approach to love and sexuality. And I just now finished my second Yuri/Chloe fic for Yurikuro Week! It’s a companion piece to Stakeout, referencing a past date Yuri brings up in that fic: Chloe’s birthday cake fiasco. If you’d like, please read it here! (Rated E!)
