So I was supposed to do this right after I watched it like a few days ago but I didn't want the review to end up like the KNY one (still salty about that btw). SPOILERS AHEAD!!
This is my personal opinion on the recent movie and it may not necessarily reflect yours.
The recent Violet Evergarden Movie was released in 2020 and the one I watched was excellent in terms of the video quality but not the sound quality since there were external sounds disrupting it.
Anyway to the movie! The animation quality is amazing as always (of course its KyoAni!). It is important to watch the series and the OVA before watching the movie because it correlates. Loved the movie so much,, it's so nice seeing how the characters have matured in the movie since the first ep. I was confused at first with the pacing of the movie because it jumps from the past to the present but once you understand, it's easy to construct the timeline.
There was 1 particular scene (Yurith's death T_T) that I ugly cried -- from the beginning till the end of the scene. That scene hit home with me and I remember looking in the mirror and seeing my swollen eyes (this is why I didn't want to post the review immediately).
We see how Violet's presence has influenced many people's lives including Yurith. But what I loved was her tremendous character development from relying on someone important (who was allegedly dead) to validate all her actions, decisions and feelings to accepting her independency in her decisions and how her responsibilities and feelings matter (something she learned throughout the series which eventually bloomed in this movie). It's all very surreal when someone close to you passes away and we hang on to the memories we have of them but this whole series shows that despite that, one must understand that life has to move on.
The only thing that fell short for me was that I wished they would've added snippets of Violet and Gilbert's life during the credits. I understand that it leaves room open for imagination but I still would've loved more snippets on their life. We do get two photos I think: one showing the pinkie promise between V & G and the other photo on the importance of Violet's contribution as a renowned Doll. Ngl I was also waiting for Violet to punch Gilbert HAHAHA.
LOVE LOVE LOVE THE MOVIE
On a side note, why does the youtube search engines have Violet EverGRANDE instead of Violet EverGARDEN???
He’s here to ruin everything. ✨
still so proud of this one dude,,,
aquaticderivative replied to your post: why is this pairing so unloved tho it breaks my heart
I DON’T KNOW. IT DOESN’T EVEN HAVE A COLLECTIVE SHIPPING NAME? BUT IT IS SO SAD AND IT JUST NEEDS MORE ATTENTION AND LOVE.
