So I just had a conversation with my parents

So I called them and asked, and they said no, and I asked what their reasoning was, and they were both just like, "I don't know it just doesn't feel right." My mom said, "It's probably just how we were raised."

So I was like, "Are you afraid that we'll do something bad or get hurt or anything?" They thought, and said, "No."

So I made the point that it would probably be safer to have someone else with me than to be alone in my house, as well as the fact that it would be no different to have my grandma stay with us (which my mom suggested) than not, as she lives literally across the street, and it would hardly be different from having him to my house until 11 and then taking him back to where he's staying, to all of which my mom replied, "Look at you making a good argument."

Yet after all of this, the resounding answer is somehow still no? Like where do parents get the idea that they can just make a decision about what their children do (oh, did I mention that my friend recently turned 19 and I'm 17) without giving them a legit reason???? Seriously, like wtf?
