First day of inktober Yuxians from food fantasy
ftr if you’re gonna punch a yuxian don’t aim for the head because their eyes get fragile with age and are filled with acid
“what happens if you punch out a yuxian anyway, zazozaliad?”
They Die
as a kid coming up with yuxians was literally the best thing for me re: my interest in any kind of science. it reframed it in such a way - from ‘you better know this because it might be useful to you’ to ‘okay, how does this thing i learned today potentially effect or make me wanna expand on my lil floaty symbiotic fungus-plant fellas?’.
so, okay, i want to talk about yuxians this morning
they’re not originally from what they consider their home planet, Yu Zi - they originated on their planet’s moon, which i used to call Mite but i kinda wanna change that name - a place that’s basically very lush and dense with lifeforms, like, it’s almost this harsh dichotomy - there’s barely any other forms of life on Yu Zi other than yuxians, it was a basically barren planet that happened to have enough of an atmosphere and other natural resources for yuxians to thrive, and when the yuxians launched attempts at re-establishing on Mite like Eons after the population that hitched their accidental ride onto Yu Zi, they encountered complex interdependent ecosystems for the first time in their cultural memory. and it was terrifying
for one, the ENTIRE yuxian population hadn’t left Mite, only some of them had, and that population hadn’t developed socially like the yu zi population had. yu zi yuxians don’t really consider ‘Yux Classic’ to be sentient, and while they can recognize some of their communication methods pretty much find them severely uncanny valley since ‘Yux Classic’ don’t have ‘language’ as they consider it
for another thing, what yuxians consider the apex predator on Mite are these massive things that are a bit similar to slime molds that literally harvest the central nervous systems of, well, things with central nervous systems in order to reproduce. yuxians happen to have central nervous system.
so going to the moon was, basically, a Mistake
yes hello vvelcome to my blog.... . hang around long enough and you vvill meet my darling oc children in brief glimpses: - shy, avvkvvard & constantly overstimulated Creepy Eye Man - pink hair vampire jokester made up vvhen i vvas tvvelve - small & cruel mold aliens - desiccated organic patchvvork doctor vvith a gene simmons tongue - My Most Darling Child, a humanoid construct made out of very durable ~soul glass~, has a large sharp tail - another, far more humanoid construct vvho is a vain mean nerd - halfling shadovv magician vvho thrives off of flaunting her ovvn ego - chronically ill elf vvho has hacked the code of the universe vvith the help of his tongue stud
a shitty little yuxian-to-human height comparison
my one rule of alien design is 'how much body horror can i fit in one small, cute thing'
