As eyes come to a halt upon the boy's slumbering form, the grin that crosses his features is unbidden. Quietly, taking care not to disturb his sleep, a giant lollipop is placed beside Yukine's futon. Affixed to it is a handwritten note, which reads: 'Heya, Yukine! One of my lottery tickets was a winner, so I bought this for ya! I've got some stuff to deal with today, so don't look for me. No matter what, don't go to Hiyori's place, either, got it? She's busy with exams, so don't even go say hi!'
“Nnn... eh?” Groggily opening his eyes, the foreign object is not particularly alarming (by now, he’s woken to Yato doing something bizarre more than a few times), but it is puzzling. “What...” He reaches out for it, brows furrowing--he hadn’t asked for anything, but Yato is definitely the spontaneous kind--eyes quickly passing over it to the note. Ah. That was definitely the real reason for this particular gift, huh... eyes scanning it, he soon sighs. As expected. It was totally suspicious.
A disgruntled groan already leaving his lips (he felt as if he’d already dealt with something like this recently) he sits up, frowning at the note. Well, Yato surely could have won with one of however many tickets (clearly it hadn’t been the jackpot, or else a mansion would be mid-construction immediately) but it’s not as if Yukine is gullible enough to believe that’s the reason why he’s being gifted--at least, not the sole reason. No, the more important details were the last two lines--he might even have been worried about Yato going off alone, if he weren’t being warned away from Hiyori as well. What did he think he was? Stupid? Well, it probably showed more about Yato than himself.
He didn’t think Hiyori was busy, but he didn’t want to bother her if she actually was. All the same, if Yato was the one warning him--especially with bribery--there was definitely something going on.
“Jeez... what the hell is he up to...?”
And so he dresses and goes downstairs with the lollipop tucked in his pocket, far more suspicious than he would’ve been had he not been left it, a good morning followed by the asking, “Did Yato already leave?” Well, in that case, there really was no time to lose. Mumbling thanks to Daikoku, he steps out the door. If Hiyori really was studying, he could just knock on and then leave right away, as long as he apologised, right? What kind of excuse is that... Yato?! He picks up the pace.
