DJ Z-TRIP, ATMOSPHERE & CYPRESS HILL just did a bunch of shows?!? Holy cow! Too bad this tour was mostly West Coast oriented. Would have LOVED to see these dudes together!

Promowest Fest Day 2
Day 2 of Promowest Fest was eventful kick back to classic hip hop and some other odds and ends. We saw the likes of The Decembrists, and RJD2 as well as Lindsey Sterling. However, by no surprise Snoop Dogg and LL Cool J stole the show, these guys are hip hop legends and damn do they put on a hell of a show.
Lets start of with the charismatic LL Cool J and the fantastic Dj Z Trip who does a lot more than hit play and pretend to do things. We got to see live mixing and actual vinyl ripping in action, I must say there is nothing else like it for a hip hop performance, the bass was heavy the vocals were tight and well rehearsed. I must say I don’t know what exactly I was expecting when I saw that LL Cool J was performing but I was far from let down and I left more of an LL Cool J fan than when I started. To see Z Trip actually working with mixing and ripping vinyls it really showed me how much talent is needed to DJ, I could go into a rant here about how EDM and DJs period don’t do much now days when they perform but I digress. Some of the best tracks to see live from Cool J were definitely “Mama Said Knock you out” and “Jack The Ripper” these two songs had the crowd surging in the mid day summer sun in the center of Downtown Columbus and I must say even I was getting my groove on!
Then as suddenly as it became night the crowd migrated one last time across the lawn to see the one and only, Snoop Dogg. The performance started out with the hype man/DJ spinning "California Love” and I must say from start to finish, Columbus started to look a lot like the lyrics should read “Ohio knows how to party”. When Snoop appeared on the scene the only thing I can recently compare my excitement to is when I caught a Lickitung earlier in the day while playing Pokemon Go when I had some down time, to put it bluntly I was hyped to the max. We heard all the classic jams such as Gin n Juice and even the song P.I.M.P, all the while the crowd smelled like we all just crawled into a dime bag of chronic. It was an experience I soon won’t forget and if you ever get a chance to see Snoop Dogg, do it.
All and All Promowest Fest Day 2 was solid and I can’t wait to see what Day 3 has in store for me.
