A bedtime book that's good for anytime! Sometimes at bedtime a quiet, sleepy book will suffice. Other times you need something a little more engaging to interest kids in getting ready for bed. I really hadn't felt all that inspired to share any specifically "back to school" books recently, despite the time of year. Nothing was really wowing me ... until I opened up "Tyrannosaurus Wrecks" (2014). And then? WOW! I was already a big fan of Zachariah Ohora's stark, brightly coloured art style, which is so perfect for young kids. But author Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen has hit every right note with this story! From tearing up the preschool with his excited aggression to trying to do better...and not always getting it right immediately, she does a gorgeous job of showing what it's like to be a preschooler with good intentions, big emotions, and not a lot of self-control. And I LOVED the classmates' response of forgiveness but also modeling better behaviour to help their friend.
