• Locked Out of Heaven •
Cori knew that this day was inevitable, after all lucky wasn’t exactly a word she used to describe her life. It was colder than she imagined and she had spent a lot of time imagining what the inside of a jail cell would feel like though she had hoped she would never find out. The time finally came for her to make her one phone call and there was only one number that was memorized in her mind and it happened to be the last person she wanted to call in a situation like this. Cori held the plastic payphone receiver to her ear and dialed his number, the ringing on the other end bringing a sharp throb to her temple each time. Finally after four rings she heard a groggy voice which made sense since it was late in the night. “Hey, it’s me. I know I said I needed space but I got arrested and I need you to bail me out, please.” It was easier to be blunt about her situation than to act coy. Cori wanted to be out of there as soon as possible. “It’s a $500 bail and I can pay you back tonight, I have the cash at home. Zach, I need you to come now, I’m not fucking with you. I can’t stay in here any longer.”
