“Just get in here will you?”
“Fine but I’m keeping my mask on,” Cori told him as she slipped into the photobooth and stuffed the tutu of her costume down so she could fit next to him.

“Just get in here will you?”
“Fine but I’m keeping my mask on,” Cori told him as she slipped into the photobooth and stuffed the tutu of her costume down so she could fit next to him.

“If one more drunk asshole pulls one of my braids tonight I’m going to switch roles and go Carrie on their asses.”
“Can I volunteer to cover you in pig’s blood?”

rhettwinters:
“Of course you don’t,” he shook his head. Laughing against the rim of his glass as he took a slip, not bothering to explain. He realized as she told her story that she rarely ever brought up the past, let alone her time in foster care. Rhett was hesitant to ask any questions usually. “Were the group homes better or worse?”
Cori stayed quiet after he asked his question, unsure of whether she wanted to proceed with the direction the conversation was going in. Her life wasn’t something she talked about but over the years Rhett had become a confidant of sorts and the whiskey they were drinking gave her looser lips than usual. “Worse when I was younger, better when I was older. You wise up after a while and once you lose the mentality of ‘today’s the day I find a family’, things are easier.”
rhettwinters:
“You must be one of those girls that found that Kovu lion hot then growing up, huh? Sorry, I want my skin to heal. Guess you can go back to finding me unappealing.” He reached for the bottle, pouring himself a refill as he looked over at her. “Shit. That had to hurt. What were you running from exactly?”
“I don’t have any clue what that means,” Cori told him honestly as she arched a brow in confusion. She held her glass out for him to refill her glass as well, taking the moment the recall exactly what she’d been running from. “Cops, it was a party in the woods and I ran when they showed up. If I got in trouble again my foster parents would have beat the crap out of me so I did what I needed to get out of there. Not that it mattered really, I was back in a group home by the end of the month anyways.”
rhettwinters:
He wanted to ask her what she meant by all of this. The way she hinted as if she had wanted him too. But he had pursued her many times to only have it made into a joke so instead of asking, Rhett leaned back against the couch. “The day you don’t put up a fight are the days I don’t see you,” he mused with a smile. “It’s fine. Doc said it shouldn’t leave too much of a scar, so I’m still as pretty as ever.”
Cori nodded as he told her he was fine and pursed her lips together before offering a smile. “I like scars on guys, the whole roughed up look is hot. Sucks yours is going to fade,” she said with a shrug before taking another drink. “I have one here,” she pointed to her ribcage. “Hopped a fence in high school, didn’t quite make it completely over.”
zach-gilroy:
“A time or two. I seem like a damn good dude if I don’t say so myself,” Zach shrugged, his head sinking down a touch, bringing his beer to his lips. “What? Just you? I’ve had better. I’m gonna need you to dance or tell jokes or something.”
“No dumbass, the beer. I’m not here for your entertainment,” Cori said as she set his beer back down and grabbed her own drink, finishing it off another couple of sips. “Aren’t you in training mode or whatever?”
zach-gilroy:
“Who said anything about starting a fight? Do you question my ability to calmly confront someone?” Zach asked with raised brows. He let the weight of his head fall to her palm, rolling his eyes. “Distract me then.”
“Have you met you?” Cori rolled her eyes and let go of his chin once he returned his attention to her, hand reaching for his drink to lift it to his lips. “Best distraction you can ask for.”
kylemurdock:
“I’m sorry, why are we even talking about this?” Kyle asked, interrupting the person mid-way. “This is such a weird conversation.”
“Because that’s what strangers do, have weird conversations until you’re not strangers anymore. And it’s really not that weird when you think about it; we’re taught not to talk to strangers and yet on Halloween kids go around taking candy from strangers.”
colin--cleary:
“I’ve never done any of those race car derbies though,” Colin teased with a shrug and a nod, moving toward the porch to start trying to pull up the planks. “Any other damage or just the porch?”
“That’s about it really, besides the everyday damage that’s existed since I bought the place. But it’s what makes the house so charming.”
addiexsterling:
“No that’s absolute bullshit. Money absolutely is happiness and it buys it. I’ve never been at my happiest in the middle of stealing food from the 7/11 and pick pocketing to help get bills paid.”
“I mean nothing compares to the thrill of filling your pockets with things that aren’t yours,” Cori said with a coy smile. “But life would be easier if I didn’t have to do it.”
addiexsterling:
“It means a lot of money thankfully because our place kinda got wrecked.” Addie sipped on her drink and nodded, “That’s true. Probably more so when it’s stormy because no one actually wants to cook. So that’s good.”
“Money makes the world go round, don’t buy that whole ‘money isn’t happiness’ bullshit. It might not be everything but it makes a damn difference.”
colin--cleary:
“Fair enough, but don’t you think the better story is to have the random guy fix it?” He teased right back. “Let me just– do you mind if I rip this plank out so no one hurts themselves on that nail in the meantime?” He asked, approaching the porch, motioning toward the wood he was speaking of.
“You’re concerned about people hurting themselves on my porch? God, you’re the definition of a boy scout. Have at it,” she said as she motioned towards the porch.
zach-gilroy:
“Or like someone sitting with you who doesn’t want some creep staring,” Zach huffed out, eyes peeled on the other guy. “You won’t get kicked out, don’t be fucking ridiculous.”
“Of course I will because I’m drinking with the guy who decided to start a fight with some dude who can’t even stand up straight,” Cori said before grabbing her refreshed drink. She took a sip and then reached out to grab Zach’s chin, tugging his face back towards her. “Forget about him.”
addiexsterling:
“I feel like I need to be here more often.” Addie looked around. She recognized a few people, she had used to come here a lot, but she started hanging out with a different crowd and things changed. “They’re good! Nothing too exciting or horrible. We’ll see how it is post storm, but hopefully it stays about the same. What about you?”
“Probably a shit ton of people needing their cars fixed which can only mean good things right?” Cori downed the rest of her drink and set down the empty glass on the bar. She nodded her head towards the bartender for another, her plan to get a good night’s sleep underway. “People always want pizza, crazy storms or not. So business has been good.”
clay-thorne:
Her words brought a smile to his face, he expected an eye roll at the most but it was something that he had thought about. “Hey give me some credit, I was the one that signed her up for little league. but she wants to do ballet now. Unless you want to teach her to throw a punch and save me from paying a good hundred bucks a month.”
“I guess it’s nice you’re not forcing her to do something she doesn’t want to do,” Cori told him as she grabbed the container of fried rice and shook some out onto her plate. She passed him the container before grabbing the honey chicken to add to her plate as well. “One afternoon and I promise you won’t ever have to worry about her not being able to defend herself.”
addiexsterling:
“I don’t bother with bars that don’t pour heavy. Especially if I’m paying, I don’t want to bother with that it’s pointless.” Addie took a long sip of her own drink. “I haven’t been here in forever.”
“I feel like I live here,” Cori commented as she took another drink. She looked around to spot a few of the regulars, a nod of acknowledgment given to one before she turned her attention back to Addie. “How are things at the shop?”
