Summary: Remus J Lupin is a geographer working for the RAF, stationed in Cairo, Egypt, under British control. He works in map intelligence, analyzing the precise positions of Nazi troops and airbases, updating geographic data from reconnaissance missions. Cairo teems with squadrons and platoons—men from all parts of the Empire and beyond. Remus wanders its streets alone, until he meets a pilot by the name of Sirius Black.

Comments: A story of a mapmaker in Cairo during WWII. I had to take this slow, but it was worth it for the rich detail and history. The way the author brought the city to life through the markets and dust and heat is awe-inspiring, as is the amount of research that went into this.

Comments: Breathtakingly gorgeous, from the Cambridge aesthetics to the blossoming relationship. Full of historical detail, lush descriptions, and wonderful illustrations. I don’t even know what else to say, except that I will never get over the sheer beauty of this fic.
