Charles: These pink flowers are extremely poisonous, Jack. Never eat any part of them.
Jack: But Uncle Arthur is eating some right now.

Random personal headcanon, but I absolutely believe that once he had children, dad!tallo/grandpa!tallo would mess with them when they ask how he lost the arm.
Every time they ask, it's a different answer. Just deadpan saying things like: "I flew on the wings of the Ten and touched the sun, at great cost." "I was so hungry during one very lean winter that I was forced to eat it." "I learned the hard way why one must never try to pet a sleeping Bellowback."
By the time he does eventually tell them the real story, they're just like, "Yeah, okay. Suuure, Dad. 😒" Hekarro has to step in and corroborate it before they'll finally believe him.
(My great grandfather had to have his arm amputated above the elbow in the '50s, after getting it caught in one of the machines at the manufacturing plant where he worked, and he would pull pranks like that. He was awesome. 😆)
Charles, practicing pickup lines: Did it hurt, when you fell down from Heaven? Arthur: No, but I did fall off a mountain today, and that hurt pretty bad. Charles: ... Oh my god, you what -
My New Year's Resolution Begins Now!
With the holidays just around the corner I have a little bit of free time, so I'm getting a head start on my New Year's resolution for 2026.
This year, my goal is to leave a comment on every fic I read, even something as simple as a "Love this!"
I know from experience how amazing it feels to receive a comment on a work I've written, and yet it's so easy to just hit "Kudos" and move on to the next without remembering to leave one myself. No more of that.
I currently have 3,800 AO3 bookmarks to work through, and I plan to leave a comment on every single one if I haven't already (which means about 85% of them still need one.) If you are a writer in the Supernatural, Final Fantasy 7, Final Fantasy 15, Red Dead Redemption, or Horizon fandoms, don't be alarmed if you get an influx of AO3 comments from me - they're legit, and I'm not a bot, just a very very very late commenter on some of these decade-old bookmarks. 😅
Happy holidays, everyone, and here's to more comments for all in 2026!
💞 post-nightmare cuddles with charthur pls -- dealer's choice on who has the nightmare
I loved writing this prompt, you wonderful, beautiful anon, you! I chose Charles as my "lucky" recipient this time, since one of my upcoming Whumpcember fics is a Charthur fic revolving around Arthur's nightmares.
CW: temporary major character death, semi-graphic description of a corpse (both in the context of a dream)
Whoever you are, I hope you enjoy it! (And keep those requests coming! I'm down to just 1 in my inbox right now!)
~RDR~
When Charles stirred awake in the middle of the night, it was with an immediate sense that something was horribly wrong. For a few seconds he just lay there, blinking groggily while his eyes adjusted to the dark and trying to figure out what the hell could possibly be amiss. Had he had a nightmare, maybe? One he'd already forgotten? There was no noise from outside, no indication that a coyote might have gotten into the horses' corral or a fox was in the hen house. It was just him and Arthur, lying asleep together in the quiet of their -
Wait. The quiet.
Arthur was never this quiet. Even at rest, there was a rough, wheezing rasp to his breath that had never quite left, despite it having been years since he recovered from the TB. It was a permanent fixture in their lives now, a constant, familiar kind of background noise neither of them really noticed anymore.
And he couldn't hear it.
🩸patching up a wound with charthur!
I loved writing this, and I hope you enjoy reading it. Keep the prompts coming, people - my asks are always open!
~RDR~ "Doesn't look like you've got any broken bones, thankfully. But it's gonna take a while to get all of this out. What is it with you and getting tossed through windows, Arthur?"
"Ain't like I did it on purpose!" Arthur grumbled, trying not to flinch as Charles carefully extracted another long shard of glass from the muscle of his forearm. "All I wanted was a goddamn drink wit'chu after a job well done. Weren't my fault those bastards decided to start shit with us."
I just finished Horizon Forbidden West, and got the Platinum PS4 trophy after "Singularity." Wow... Just, wow. What an amazing ride. I originally gave the series a try because of how much I loved Red Dead, and my desire to explore its actors' other works, but very quickly fell in love with the whole series, and especially Aloy herself. (So yes, my newest addiction is all your fault, @noshirdalal! 😆)
I started Horizon: Zero Dawn back in December, and Platinumed it before immediately starting Forbidden West. I had no idea how much I'd end up loving the world, the story, and every last character in only a matter of months. Just like Red Dead, Horizon gave me hope in a dark, tumultuous time when I needed it most, and whether or not Horizon 3 ever materializes (although of course I hope it does!) nothing can ever take that away.
It's bittersweet to finish the story (for the time being) but I'll definitely be playing through it all over again in the future. Aloy and her band of misfits now have a place in my heart right alongside the Van der Linde gang, and I'm thankful to every single person at Guerilla Games who brought this world to life. 🌎👩🏻🦰🏹
If you haven't played HZD and HFW, friends, please give it a try. I'm confident you won't regret it!
Also, just noticed, but I feel I should get bonus points for earning this trophy on 4/20. 🌱💨
