the phone situation continues to distress my soul so I'm thinking about Zan during the barghest era and Im v amused by the idea of the Hunt being a polycule

bc a) i am starved for poly content and It's My Self Insert I Get To Have All The Fictional Partners I Want

and b) I think it'd be absolutely hilarious on Garrus's end "I didn't even think I was going to end up with one human partner now?? I have four?????"

Vakarian was looking at them with those big ol eyes of his, his mandibles gone flared out in shock? Awe? Probably both. "Wait wait wait- wait. Your grandpa is General Asmodeus Victriril."

Zander could feel the will to live begin to leave their body as they could guess where this conversation was going to go. "Yesssss. Why?" 

His eyes lit up more than they thought possible, fucking anime eye bullshit, and he did that little chirpy noise they mostly heard their siblings make when they were babies and got too excited. "Because he's amazing Shepard! Damn I was, he was absolutely my idol when I was a kid. I met him once during my service and I just." He made a distinctly happy sound and- was his neck starting to turn blue? 

Wait. Wait a minute. That wasn't quite where they thought this was going- "....Garrus do you have a crush on my grandfather?"

He paused for a second, looking at just about everything but them as the will to live slowly left their body. "Listen. Listen- he's done some amazing things and I may or may not have thought he was attractive when I was younger-"

"Vakarian you rat fuck. You come into my house." They tried so hard to not laugh, already leaning forwards a little with their sharp lil teeth dramatically bared. "First you call my pari a DILF an now you're telling me you have a crush on my grandpa?"

There was a very long pause. "Maybe."

"I fucking hate you-"

"He's an attractive drake Shepard!"

"Oh my god! Don't tell me that! I don't need that image in my head Vakarian Jesus fucking tits!" Kaidan had at some point come into the room and upon hearing whatever was going on about faced and marched directly back out.

i don't talk about them a lot here but i will in the fic an i need 2 more often but they bond p early on over the fact their bodies are Like That™ an bc of it they've always felt the need to prove themselves and yknow all that internalized jazz

So they're v close friends! They bond an Joker makes sure to purposefully change his tone so Zan knows he's joking (or flat out tell em) an Zan has never been v good at Showing The Feelings so they bring him lil shinies or food. Mostly food tbh they have how he likes his coffee down to a science. And neither of them Needs the other to fight their battles but sometimes a recruit somehow loses his shoes after insulting Joker or someone finds they can't get into any of their devices after fucking w Zan

And then the whole collectors thing happens and holy shit. Zan tried to keep their issues w space on the DL for a lot of reasons but Joker was one of the very few that knew why if the ship shook even a lil they'd be white knuckled and gnawing a hole in their damn lip. So to be aware of how specifically they died and the fact that they willingly darted back into a burning ship to get him? That fuckin sucks.

An then he ends up with Cerberus and I'm sure they would low-key inform him of what's up w Shepard just so he's not gonna lose it when they materialize

But then they come back..wrong.

It looks an awful lot like Zander sure but. They move different, they talk different, they act more cold and cruel and when he talks to them it likes there's nothing behind those eyes. Even when he falls back into jokes he Knows they loved or ones they said before, especially the very stupid ones, there's no response.

An it's like that for almost ten whole years. He's stubborn sure but after the first three he doesn't..try as hard anymore. He just slips back into his job and tries to not think about the thing wearing his friends skin.

And then they fucking go missing. Their tracker was ripped out, Lawson is losing her entire fucking mind, the rest of The Hunt has 0 idea where they could have gone except for the fact the last mission they had was on Omega. An he just has this inkling of "are they in there?"

Shepard shows up in his quarters a few months later and scares the shit out of him with those creepy ass eyes.

what if,,,,,,the Barghest has v weird dreams. about a turian on Omega and weird conversations with them and @1st they think nothing of it but the dreams Keep Happening

not every single night but often enough to make them go ???? esp bc the turian seems v happy when they return after a few days of being missing. an in the dream they know some things that they can't remember when they wake up

an they meet other ppl in the dreams and grow to like them an then they go to Omega bc they have to kill archangel and have a tiny breakdown bc the ppl in the crew look Fucking Exactly like the ppl in their dreams and then they see archangel and it's like "YOU"
